Frozen Boulder

At precisely 12:45 p.m. Sunday May 4, 2008, all participants froze in their selected pose, looking as though they had been supernaturally suspended in the midst of ordinary life on Pearl Street Mall. They posed for exactly 5 minutes. Then they broke the pose simultaneously without any fanfare or signal and went on about their normal activities, dispersing into the crowd.

Actually, the event was nothing more than fun for fun's sake.

There was no political or "awareness" agenda. It was an out-of-the-ordinary, unexpected event which made many hundreds of people smile on a Sunday afternoon. It lasted all of five minutes and took about 15 minutes of prep and planning.

It was amazing to experience stillness and quiet in what is usually a loud, vibrant space. It was great for people to experience a brief moment of weirdness.

I find it very strange that the preceding comments border on hostility over such a harmless, fun event.
