Tracy Ringolsby

Tracy Ringolsby, Baseball Writer I was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., and graduated from Cheyenne East High School. My wife and I live with our four horses northwest of Cheyenne. I have a daughter, Laramie, who is 27, and currently working on her MBA at SMU. I have attended the University of Wyoming and am still plugging away at getting the degree I promised my father I would receive when I quit school to puruse a career in journalism. I have been covering Major League Baseball since 1976, and joined the News for the 1992 season, the year before the Rockies started play. I was selected by my peers to receive the 2005 J.G. Taylor Spink Award, which led to my enshrinement in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., during the 2006 ceremonies. I also received the 2000 Colorado Press Association Shining Star Award, a particularly proud moment considering I believe I was the first person from a sports department to be honored.
