Daniel John Lyons, 34, was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon after surviving a plunge off Rim Rock Drive in the Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction. Shortly after his release, he was booked into the Mesa County jail on sexual assault charges.

According to Lyons' warrant, he is accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and several other related felony charges, including sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse.

Lyons drove off a cliff in his van about six miles from the east entrance of Colorado National Monument on Wednesday. Monument Superintendent Joan Anzelmo said officials believe Lyons was trying to kill himself.

    Duckster,

Such sensitivty! You should be embarrassed. I know I am....for you! I hate pedophilia too. If he is guilty, he deserves whatever he gets, but he is innocent until he is proven guilty. Your last statement was reprehensible and totally unnecessary.

Sweet Jeebus (intended spelling, thanks Homer!) people...let us not be divided by political leanings, idiotic ramblings. Nay I say! Let us unite in our collective loathing of the accused and his alleged actions if true. Further, if true...let us all together hope for his punishment be in equal, and then exceeding measure to be doled out by his fellow fiends in the Vertical Bar Hotel.

I'm thinking that there was a higher power that wanted this guy to be held accountable for his trespasses, both here and in the afterlife. The picture of the van is incredible.

If it's true, he'll get what he deserves and wish he had killed himself.
Funny, when this first happened, people were running to his defense saying he was a great guy.
