Giddyup Denverites and take your Stetsons and cowboy boots out of the closet tomorrow.
Mayor John Hickenlooper has declared Tuesday "Dress Western Day" in Denver in honor of the National Western Stock Show's annual Downtown Denver Parade.
"The National Western Stock Show is a signature event that showcases our Western heritage," Hickenlooper said in a statement. "The parade, in particular, is a favorite, time-honored tradition. We encourage city employees and other residents of the region to get into the Stock Show spirit by dressing Western for the day."
The parade, which includes a Texas Longhorn cattle drive, begins at Denver's Union Station at noon and trots up 17th Street.
Before the parade, at 11:30 a.m., there's a barbecue in the atrium of the Wells Fargo Building. The barbecue is open to the public.

Sorry 666, that's India. And frankly, I used to enjoy the old cow town. Guess that's one reason I live here. And as far as plowing the streets goes, I don't think they did a very good job of that in the 'burbs, either. Somebody really dropped the ball on this one, and it cost a lot of drivers, even the careful ones. Just glad he didn't want us to 'dress Western' this morning; the ice and wind would have made walking in my boots a bit challenging.

Even at 1:00 PM today, 470 on the westside was a mess. Accidents left and right. Saw a tow truck driver get hit bad after he got out of the truck to help another accident.
TNC hit the nail on the head.

666: We'd all like to see you set yourself on fire too. Why is it that we can't have any fun at all anymore without someone whining about it? Mayor Hickenlooper is doing a great job for us.
