Fight over iPod leaves two dead in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — Investigators say a shooting east

of Colorado Springs that left two people dead stemmed from a gang-related clash over a stolen iPod.

El Paso County sheriff’s Lt. Lari Sevene said 19-year-old Juan Vasquez was arrested early Friday on suspicion of killing two teenage boys. It wasn’t immediately clear if Vasquez had an attorney.

Deputies responded to a report of a fight involving nearly two dozen people at about 4 p.m. Thursday near Cimarron Eastridge Park, and found at least one person performing CPR on a shooting victim.

One person died at the scene. The second died at a hospital less than an hour later.

The names of the victims have not been released, but Sevene says they attended Sierra High School and New Horizon School.

Autopsies are planned.

    This is a farce... crime rates in Denver have dropped. I am sure other places have too. Plus, this story is about a shooting in Colorado Springs... no Democrats to be found there!

    I agree Uno's comment was silly. But yes, there are a lot of Dems in Colorado Springs. Many liberal groups have set up base here with the intent of undoing what they perceive as the inherent "danger" of conservative groups like FOF. Also, there are large minority populations on the south side that tend to be Democrat.

I went to a concert out there and kids were walking around with red bandanas on their heads like they were bloods. Now if those kids lived in Denver they wouldn't have made it out of the concert alive. Colorado Springs is a haven for "studio gangsters"... meaning those who are gangster behind closed doors. This just shows they may be getting some heart out there, but they will never come to the Mile Hi city with that nonsense!!!

    The economy will have something to do with it, but the seeds have already been planted and have sprouted in Colorado, specifically Denver Metro and Springs as far as gangs go. The willingness to initiate violence is growing, not nec. the need yet.......
