Concerts off to slow start in the new year
Is it the economy or the time of year? Things are still slow around these parts, but with a promise of business picking up later in 2009.
* FILLMORE AUDITORIUM - The Kottonmouth Kings are set for an April 3 show, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, $25 (Ticketmaster).
* OGDEN THEATRE - Bassnectar has a date on Feb. 27, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. today, $22. Hot Buttered Rum and the Travelin' McCoury's are set for April 11, $22 (Ticketmaster).
* BLUEBIRD THEATER - Eric Hutchinson headlines a benefit for the Kempe Foundation on Feb. 10, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. today, $20 (Ticketmaster).
RUMORS AND HEARSAY: Fans expected it, but sources confirm that Bruce Springsteen will mount a full tour with the release of Working on a Dream and his Super Bowl appearance next month. No word if the full E Street Band is on board ... U2 is also due on the road, no surprise, and the Billy Joel/Elton John double bill will add more dates ... Rascal Flatts is at the Pepsi Center on Feb. 28, with tickets on sale Jan. 17 ... Fleetwood Mac is hitting the road, Lindsey Buckingham in tow, Christine McVie still out. No Denver date yet, but wait . . . The Dead is back after a five-year break, with a May 7 Pepsi Center date penciled in . . . Femi Kuti canceled the Jan. 19 date at the Boulder Theater because of illness. Get your refunds where you bought your tickets.
