The Nuggets have made a deal involving a big man.
But they didn’t acquire one. They traded one.
The Nuggets on Monday dealt center Cheikh Samb and cash considerations to the Los Angeles Clippers for a future conditional second-round pick.
The move is expected to help get the Nuggets under the luxury-tax threshold of $71.15 million. Samb is making $711,517 this season.
Samb, acquired Nov. 3 from Detroit along with guard Chauncey Billups and forward Antonio McDyess (bought out Nov. 10) has averaged 1.5 rebounds this season in six games. He has been with the Colorado 14ers of NBA Development League, where he is averaging 12.4 points and 7.1 rebounds.
The Nuggets’ roster now stands at 13. Coach George Karl has said the team, thin in the post, could use another big man.
Due to the trade, Samb must leave the 14ers. He becomes property of the Clippers, who can keep him on their roster or assign him to their NBADL affiliate, the Anaheim Arsenal.

Tough break for the 14ers. Cheikh was playing pretty good for them. he needs to gain a ton of muscle and weight, though, if he has aspirations of playing in the big leagues.

Ok free up money and clear a roster spot. I can see that. Now let's go get a big man. I hope this doesn't mean we are set for the year at PG. Package Atkins and another player preferably Carter but I hey I know when to say when. But there are a ton of guys available in the next 2 years, I'll bet Stan is stackin some $$$$$$ to make a play. But we still need a coach to put it all together and Karl just won't do.

I guess they are working on something, what? I have no idea. I,m like everyone else, I hope it's a big! Go Nuggets. AC is growing on me a little but, not paired with Billups. He's a good 10 to 15 minute point. Chucky has to be traded not that I think he's completely washed up but he's a veteran and should get playing time where he is needed. Go Nuggets
