ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Austrian skier Nicole Hosp is out for six weeks and will miss next month's Alpine World Ski Championships after injuring her left knee Sunday.
Hosp, the 2007 giant slalom world champion, broke the upper part of her shinbone and tore ligaments after crashing during a warmup run for a World Cup slalom in Zagreb, the Austrian ski federation said. Surgery will not be needed.
The 25-year-old Hosp has 11 World Cup victories and won the 2007 overall title.
The world championships will be held in Val d'Isere, France, from Feb. 3-15.
