JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Shay Scott hit two free throws with one second remaining to lift Arkansas State to a 63-61 Sun Belt Conference victory over New Orleans on Sunday.
Scott tied her career-high 18 points. Veronica Smith finished the game with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. ASU (7-7 overall, 1-2 SBC) also got 11 points from Ebonie Jefferson.
New Orleans (7-7, 2-2) used a 27-23 advantage in the first half to take a 30-27 lead at halftime. Ty Felder tied the game at 61 on a jumper with 26 seconds remaining in the game. Scott earned a shot when she was fouled on a putback attempt.
Brittany Helm scored 20 points for New Orleans. Felder made 12 points and 11 boards. Jada Frazier added 12 points.
