The Broncos signed former Colorado State tackle Clint Oldenburg to a reserve/future contract, the team said Thursday.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Oldenburg competed in training camp with the New York Jets this season and spent the final 10 weeks of the regular season on the St. Louis Rams' practice squad.

Oldenburg, who also played tight end and guard at CSU, was a fifth-round pick (No. 171 overall) by the New England Patriots in the 2007 draft.

He has played in two NFL games, both last year with the Jets.

The native of Sheridan, Wyo., will be added to the Broncos roster at the end of the season.

Isn't this "the end of the season" for the Bronco's? I don't know Oldenburg but why would the Bronco's sign someone now, prior to picking a new head coach. Shouldn't any new picks be run by the new guy?

fireball, good point, but the organization is no longer run by shanahan, and the new coach is destined NOT to have final say in player personnel, as shanny had.

BTW, technically, the 'end of the season' is officially the day after the superbowl, even though the bronx playing season is over already.

what i wanna know is, if this guy couldn't even make the lowly RAMS' active roster, why would we want him?-

It's great to see Clint Oldenburg signed as a Bronco. He will do just fine in Denver. NFL teams are always making personnel moves that they feel upgrade their rosters. Just because they fired Shanny, business doesn't stop at Dove Valley.

By the way, Clint's a native of Gillette, Wyoming not Sheridan as the article states.

    Go Broncos!
