BREAKER, BREAKER

The Senate unanimously passed the Playboy Bunny bill Monday. That's the nickname given to Senate Bill 14 by Sen. Suzanne Williams, D-Aurora, dealing with mud flaps.

Lawmakers joked in committee about mud flaps with the bunny and bow tie logo.

WHEN A LAWMAKER

BECOMES A LAWBREAKER

$86 Fine that Rep. Randy Baumgardner owes after being ticketed Monday morning for driving in an RTD lane on Lincoln Street just blocks from the Capitol.

The Hot Sulphur Springs Republican learned too late that drivers can be in that lane only for one block before they must turn. He was in the lane for two blocks.

By the way, it's an urban myth that lawmakers can't be ticketed during the session.

PROTECTING JOE

SIX-PACK'S RIGHTS

"Hey, I'm just representing my district."

Sen. Lois Tochtrop, D-Thornton, when ribbed about her support of manufactured housing and opposition to smoking bans

"Sounds like God's country to me."

Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry, R-Grand Junction

TIME FOR A NEW CLOCK

Colorado's ornate Senate chambers draw "oohs" and "ahs" from visitors and even Capitol regulars.

Which is why Mac Zimmerman, senior staffer for the Senate Republicans, wonders about the clock on the south wall.

"That thing looks like it cost $5 from Target," he said.
