Rockies quick links

— Center fielder Willy Taveras became the latest Rockies regular to have his season come to an early end. Taveras was scratched from the lineup Wednesday against the Giants because of a stress fracture in his right tibia.

Trainer Keith Dugger said the cause for the injury was uncertain, but it is assumed he suffered it during deceleration while running. Taveras said he experienced soreness for three weeks, but it wasn't until an MRI was taken Wednesday that the stress fractured was discovered.

Taveras stole a franchise-record 68 bases, which leads the major leagues.

Dexter Fowler replaced Taveras in the lineup Wednesday.

Taveras joins left-handed pitcher Jeff Francis, right-handed pitcher Aaron Cook and first baseman Todd Helton on the list of Rockies players who finished the season on the sidelines.

Wow, guess I spoke too soon in regards to comments I made on a previous article. Guess Willy isn't going to be healthy until the end of the season. What a shame, and with only 5 more games to go.
