CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story misidentified actress Christina DeRosa, who was pictured on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards, as Alyssa Milano.
Judie: I am a TV watcher. Evelinda is not. Yet she joins me every year to watch the Emmys.
Evelinda: I'll watch anything for the clothes. This year I am especially glad I did. Right from the get-go, the fashions bowled us over. This is the first year we have agreed on everything.
Judie: That worries me. Here are the trends we spotted:
Dress styles
The one-shoulder gown was the look of the evening. Ugly Betty's witch-in-residence Vanessa Williams wore a black and white floral gown by Kevan Hall, and Law and Order SVU cop Mariska Hargitay looked sunny in a marigold number by Carolina Herrera. Yellow one-shoulder gowns were popular choices.
Black and white is always a winner and Lisa Edelstein from House and Jennifer Love Hewitt, star of Ghost Whisperer, both opted for the combo.
Hewitt wowed us in her gown by Herrera.
Color
We saw lots of bold beautiful colors on the red carpet. What a nice change from the washed-out vegetable colors - shades of mushroom and overcooked asparagus - of past seasons.
Yellow was the choice of Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher who wore a ruffled yellow confection by Monique Lhuillier that made her look anything but desperate.
Mary Louise Parker, of Weeds, and Lost's Emilie de Ravin both wore lovely shades of blue. Alfre Woodard chose red. (Alfre, what's with the hair? It looks like a firecracker exploded on top of your head.) Nicollette Sheridan, Jane Krakowski and Holly Hunter all looked marvelous in purple, and Brooke Shields chose a hot pink gown with a long train by Badgley Mischka. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the old Christine, looked shiny and new in a juicy salmon gown by Narciso Rodriguez.
White works for any occasion as proved by House star Olivia Wilde, Curb Your Enthusiasm's Cheryl Hines, The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick, and January Jones, star of Mad Men.
Hair
Hairstyles ran the gamut from long curls to loose up-dos sported by Rose Byrne, Evangeline Lily, Marcia Cross and Rita Wilson. The short bob, as popularized recently by Katie Holmes, showed up on the heads of Felicity Huffman (love the cut, babe) and Eva Longoria (Hate. We miss the flattering long tresses. Did the housewives get a group rate on haircuts?).

The Style Matters winners
* Sandra Oh, of Grey's Anatomy, bucked the color trend in a gorgeous black lace gown by Oscar de la Renta.
* Heidi Klum knocked us out in a dazzling silver sheath from Giorgio Armani Prive with a caplet-style sleeve that clung to those famous Klum curves.
* The voluptuous award has to go to Christina Hendricks, the majestic office manager from Mad Men. Hendricks dazzled in a green gown with an eye-popping decolletage harkening back to the curvy pin-up girls of the '50s.
* Cancer survivor Christina Applegate, of Samantha Who?, looked polished and sophisticated in a one-shoulder ice blue gown accessorized with chandelier earrings.
And the losers
* Ugly Betty America Ferrera's dress was an unfortunate choice. The tea-length puffy skirt overwhelmed her frame and added too much girth to her hips.
* Eva Longoria Parker had her silly flapper-style dress by Marchesa adjusted on camera by co-housewife Felicity Huffman. What, she just found out the dress didn't fit?
* Susan Sarandon, who strutted around town during the DNC, has not done a thing to her hair since she left Denver almost three weeks ago. She was still sporting the messy mop do.
* Marcia Cross wore a dress that would have been better suited for a starring role in The Nutcracker.
