The Nuggets signed guard Sonny Weems to a contract, the team announced Monday. Terms were not disclosed.
The Chicago Bulls selected the 6-foot-6 former Arkansas player in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Nuggets for a 2009 second-round draft pick.
In July, Weems had surgery to repair a sports hernia. He was expected to recover for the start of training camp on Sept. 30.
Weems played five games for the Nuggets' Summer League team, averaging 9.2 points per game.
