Last week, it was Air Force that had to figure out a way to contain quarterback Case Keenum and the Houston offense.

This week, Colorado State has that task against the Cougars, who were practicing in Dallas on Monday because of the effects Hurricane Ike in the Houston area.

Keenum leads Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly NCAA Division I-A) in total offense, averaging 429.7 yards a game. Houston is second in the subdivision in passing with an average of 405.3 yards a game.

"Keeping (the ball) is always a good thing but not always by running," Rams coach Steve Fairchild said. "Whatever we have to do, we'll try to do."

Kubiaks fine

Safety Klint Kubiak said his family is safe and escaped harm when Hurricane Ike hit the Houston area last weekend.

Kubiak's father, Gary, is a former Broncos assistant who is coach of the Houston Texans. Trees fell but away from the house, and Kubiak said everybody is fine.

"It was a miracle," Klint said. "They were very lucky. I saw some pictures. There was a lot of water and debris."
