A nude statue of Diana the Huntress was partially hidden by an American flag while Biden spoke nearby.

Despite the massive American flag that hid most of her, it was difficult to miss the really big-boned gal in the little black dress standing next to the stage at Joe Biden's rally.

Especially with that bow and arrow she was holding.

Normally, Diana the Huntress - the statue of her, that is - poses au naturel in front of the Union Depot building in downtown Pueblo. But on Wednesday, that changed. At least for a few hours.

"I don't think they wanted bare breasts showing," said Mike Randall, the person in charge of putting a makeshift shift on Diana, goddess of the hunt and the moon.

"They said cover her up, so I put her in a toga," said Randall, who used a large swath of black cloth to cover Diana's unmentionables and a bunch of black string to keep his creation from blowing away.

The enormous flag was added after the toga alone was deemed inadequate to keep Diana out of the picture.

The statue, which stands about 8 feet tall, not counting the imposing stone base, was a gift from Pueblo's sister city in Mexico, Chihuahua, and its placement was the source of some controversy, Randall said.

But that's all in the past. Now, nobody seems to mind.

"It's been on TV too many times for it to matter anymore," he said.

How silly. It's art for goodness sake, and a celebration of the human body. What is it we are trying to hide? I thought that sort of prudery disappeared in the 1950's. These days, live women bare most everything. Diana the Huntress is hardly one of the "Girls Gone Wild."

Well you gotta hand it to old Joe; he does have standards you know. Like badmouthing corporate greed on the one hand, and getting his son as many corporate hand outs as possible. I guess that sort of corporate pandering, and legislative misconduct is OK, and doesn't constitute greed, or lack of integrity. E for effort, Thanks Joe, your true colors are coming through. Go oooooo, Joe!! Oh, and while your at it, take Obama with you!!!

I think (in 2 weeks VP elect)Biden`s posse showed impeccable foresight with the under gutter depth to which Senator McCain has demonstrated he has no qualms what-so-ever in delving be it lies, cheating even stealing votes & THAT is not a hero folks that is a 0 and such deviant behavior deserves 0 votes!

McCain Employing GOP Operative Accused of Voter Registration Fraud
    http://www.truthout.org/102108K
Sam Stein, The Huffington Post: "John McCain's campaign has directed $175,000 to the firm of a Republican operative accused of massive voter registration fraud in several states. According to campaign finance records, a joint committee of the McCain-Palin campaign, the RNC and the California Republican Party, made a $175,000 payment to the group Lincoln Strategy in June for purposes of 'registering voters.' The managing partner of that firm is Nathan Sproul, a renowned GOP operative who has been investigated on multiple occasions for suppressing Democratic voter turnout, throwing away registration forms and even, once, spearheading efforts to get Ralph Nader on ballots so as to hinder the Democratic ticket."

This is absurd. Maybe we ought to be glad they didn't put Diana in a nun's habit.
C'mon, I suspect most Democrats wouldn't have cared if Joe appeared next to a statue of a naked Greek goddess. Uptight social conservatives wouldn't be voting for Biden anyway.
Please don't tell me Biden's a prude. I seriously doubt his wife would get jealous over Joe standing next to a multi-ton statue.

What is with Americans? The sight of a nipple can create a national panic if their young boys ever catch a glimpse, see the Superbowl wardrobe mishap.

If a Republican had covered a nude statue, the raving wing-nut lefties would be screaming about censorship and outdated morals.

But when a Democrat does the same thing, the raving wing-nut lefties scream about censorship and outdated morals...and they're still talking about Republicans! Total blind eye to the actions of their own "Senator Brain-Damage".

I guess no one can ever accuse the lefties of being inconsistent. No matter who does what, they spew hate for Republicans. Such intellectually-dishonest wing-nutters should be barred from voting for the good of the country.

LOL! Yup, you hit the nail on the head. Your observation is why some of the other participants in these discussions will post the one liner, "It's Bush's fault", regardless of the topic.

And I love how "tolerant" Liberals always throw that "You betcha" out there as an insult and still believe that they aren't bigots.

Of course if anyone else referenced Obama by saying "Yo, dawg! Lemme axe you something..." or used any other ebonics phrase ("Ebonics" itself being a creation of the liberal left in order to validate sloppy ghetto talk...) the same ones who love to mock Governor Palin's speech would be coming unhinged yelling about prejudice and intolerance.

Double-standard, thy name is "Liberal leftist loony".
