A slavish devotion to the liberal narrative

Paul Campos has done it again. His elitist sniffing and slavish devotion to the liberal narrative was on display in his Oct. 1 Rocky Mountain News column on the supposed insufficiencies of Sarah Palin ("Out-of-control populism").

Mr. Campos, because someone has not touched all of the bases of liberal credentialing via the "right" schools does not mean they do not have what it takes to lead. Life achievements, which reveal temperament, character and judgment, are what make a leader. I have confidence that Palin's experiences will serve her well.

To reveal Campos' myopia on candidate qualifications, look at Barack Obama. His lack of temperament, character and judgment have been clearly on display: Rezko, Ayers, the Rev. Wright, and shady campaign financing. Too bad the elite media can't be bothered with questions of Obama's character and lack of achievement.

Neither Obama nor Biden think well on their feet, so Campos' criticism of Palin's responses to "gotcha" questions from vacuous, in-the-tank media types is misplaced.

I must credit Campos for consistency. His columns in the Rocky are moral and intellectual train wrecks one can set his watch to.

Palin is the second example of the dumbing down of America, George W. Bush was the first. Palin's gotcha questions came from some of her constituents. If asking what you read, or what your foreign policy experience is constitutes gotcha questions we as a country are in serious trouble. Palin is in way over her head, She will be the destruction of the McCain campaign. She will no longer have interviews unless it is on Fox news, how are we supposed to learn who she is. I want to know if she really believes the earth is 6,000 years old!!!

    Good job, Mr. Fisher.

You have revealed the concerns that we all should have about Mr. Obama.

I know that liberals will not like your good letter. Thanks again.

Michael lets look at YOUR candidate: McCain was one of the "Keating Five," congressmen investigated on ethics ( hmmm 'poor ethics' isnt that what just happened with Palin?) charges for strenuously helping convicted racketeer Charles Keating after he gave them large campaign contributions and vacation trips.
Charles Keating was convicted of racketeering and fraud in both state and federal court after his Lincoln Savings & Loan collapsed, costing the taxpayers $3.4 billion. His convictions were overturned on technicalities & his state charges because Judge Lance Ito screwed up jury instructions. Neither court cleared him, he faces new trials in both courts.
McCain intervened for Charles Keating after Keating gave McCain at least $112,00 in contributions. In the mid-1980s, McCain made at least 9 trips on Keating's airplanes, and 3 of those were to Keating's luxurious retreat in the Bahamas. McCain's wife and father-in-law also were the largest investors (at $350,000) in a Keating shopping center; the Phoenix New Times called it a "sweetheart deal." McCain was not convicted of any crimes, guess cheating retirees is legal, although the Senate concluded that he exercised "poor judgment
That's his most famous 'sleaze job', but we also have his values: John McCain has broken up a lot of marriages. When he met his first wife (a swimsuit model), she was married to naval academy classmates. After he broke that marriage up, she stuck by him & he went off to war and was a POW for 5 and a half years. When he returned home he found out that she had been in a car wreck and wasn't as pretty. So he had a series of sordid affairs, by his own admission, and dumped his wife and adopted family for a younger, very rich blond (now Cindy McCain) but not before he cheated with Cindy for awhile.
Even with his religion Mccain lies: He grew up Episcopalian, went to an Episcopalian high school. For over 15 years, he has been listed as an Episcopalian in the Almanac of American Politics and Congressional Quarterly's Politics in America 2008. He told reporters in June 2007 that he was an Episcopalian. Suddenly, in September 2007, he's campaigning in South Carolina, the heavily Baptist state and guess what? McCain tells a reporter "By the way, I'm not Episcopalian. I'm Baptist."
When pressed, he said he's attended the North Phoenix Baptist Church in Arizona for more than 15 years, though he has never been baptized in that church. But that's exactly the problem. Baptism is kind of a big thing in the Baptist Church. (That's how they got the name.) No baptism, not Baptist.
Anyway, details aside, these are only several indications of how the 'maverick' McCain has changed. Now, he's just another hungry politician, happy to pander if it helps him win. Which eliminates the very reason people were excited about him in 2000 -- his honesty.

cjc1951 - I hope you know how ignorant you sound. You only get baptised once. Usually when you first become a christian. He's been going to the church for 15 years, he's probably been a christian longer than that. He might have been baptised in an Episcopalian church, but that doesn't mean he had to be baptised at his new church when he joined. Please try to inform yourself before you make yourself look like anymore of a fool. Thanks.

This wasn't really meant to be a theology debate - but you're wrong again Wechasa. "Believers Baptism" isn't for when you change churches - it's for when you become a believer (hence the name). Here is part of a definition "upon such Scriptural confession of faith, and renewing of life, be baptized with water". There's always going to be different factions that believe or do things a little different, but the majority of christians - it is a truly belivers baptism.

Malachi_Constant, you must be pretty blind if you only look for a candidate that "sounds smart". In short: I ignore you.

I'm questioning cjc1951's claim that John McCain is a liar because he said he was a baptist when he's been going to a baptist church for 15 years. I'm not attacking your ability to present truth - I'm giving facts to refute an accusation.
