Health care providers will be offering free testing in Denver's Hispanic community today for the virus that causes AIDS.

Organizers will hold the testing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rude Recreation Center, 2855 W. Holden Place.

The testing is part of a nationwide effort dubbed National Latino AIDS Awareness Day that is attempting to reach out to Hispanic communities that struggle to gain access to health care and feel stigmatized when broaching the subject of the deadly disease, said Belinda Garcia, executive director of Sisters of Color United for Education, which is helping to organize the event.

Organizations helping to provide the testing include Denver Health, the Colorado AIDS Project and Servicios de la Raza. Information: 303-446- 8800.

Alright, I'm all for HIV testing. But what if some group called "Los Whiteys" offered free testing for Caucasians? Isn't that racism? Even if they say all people were "welcome."

What happened, redwhiteandBLUE, is that too many people are unaware that TB is still a problem.
