T-shirt weather today, snowball fights by Sunday morning?
That's a possibility for metro Denver, which will enjoy two balmy days before a storm moves in Friday evening.
Today will be calm and sunny in Denver with a high near 73, National Weather Service meteorologists say.
It's foggy this morning in Lamar in southeastern Colorado, where the relative humidity is 93 percent.
For metro Denver, Friday will be even warmer than today, with a high near 75, but with tell-tale stronger winds coming in from the west later in the day.
By Friday evening the storm will bring a chance of rain and snow to the foothills and the urban corridor.
Saturday should be mostly cloudy with a high near 52 in Denver. The chances of snow in the lower elevations increase Saturday night.
"We have about a 40 percent chance of rain and snow in the Denver area Saturday night," NWS meteorologist Kyle Fredin said.
He doesn't expect much accumulation, and said Sunday will be an improving day.
In the high country, it will be a different story, especially when it comes to artificial white stuff.
"It should be a good weekend for making snow," said John Sellers, spokesman for the Loveland ski area, which hopes to open for the season in mid-October.
The incoming storm is out of the northwest and should clobber northern Wyoming and Montana with a lot of snow, Fredin said. Colorado's northern and central mountains have the best chances for a blanket of snow.
Sunday's chance for rain is just 10 percent, and the high is expected to be about 51.
Rain will continue into Sunday on the Plains.
By Monday, things will dry up and temperatures will return to seasonal norms — low 70s for highs.
The mountains will feel the storm sooner and more intensely than the plains.
Granby is expecting a high near 62 today, but wind gusts as high as 34 mph.
Friday should be a decent day in much of the high country, where the chances of precipitation are slight, and the highs could reach the low 60s.
But by Saturday, the high in Granby will be just 49 and the chances of rain or snow will be about 50/50. The overnight low will be in the upper teens.
Aspen looks a little nicer, with a high expected near 67 today under sunny skies, and a high of 62 on Friday, when there is a better chance of rain.
On Saturday, though, Aspen will see a high near 44, with a good chance of rain, snow and thunder, and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
The mountains will share in the drying out early next week.
