University of Colorado police ejected 57 people from CU's Homecoming football game at Folsom Field on Saturday night, mainly for alcohol-related violations.
CU police issued seven citations at the game for underage drinking; referred 11 students to CU's Office of Judicial Affairs; sent 12 people to a detox center; and arrested three people. One arrest was for disorderly conduct, another for assault and the third was made on a failure to appear warrant.
The Texas Longhorns bulldozed the CU team, 38-14.
The nighttime kick-off at 5:10 p.m. likely contributed to the rowdiness of the crowd, CU police officials said. About 54,000 people filled Folsom Field for the sold-out game, which was patrolled by about 85 police officers from CU and neighboring jurisdictions.

They dont serve booze at the game but had to send people to detox that plan is working. Instead of people drinking at the game they are pounding hard booze before it.
I would love to see the drinking arrest stats now and before the booze ban to see if it has made a difference.

Yeah, Buff fans are soooo out of control. I bet no other college game this weekend across the nation had fans expelled for being drunk.
Even the coveted CSU Rams....
I always sit in the student section when I go to games (I graduated from CU over a decade ago), those kids are awesome. Having fun, cheering and being kids. Maybe if they sold booze during the game, we wouldn't have to work so hard to get hammered before the game, and sneak our little packets of whiskey in.

CU fans are far worse in terms of conduct than any other fans i've come accross in the country, and i've been to nearly 50 stadiums. The riot police has ejected the whole student section on more than one occasion.

I am a season ticket holder and am embarrassed by the throwing of stuff on the field...er, oh wait, when I was a student they (we) were doing the same stuff...
Perhaps we should wonder why the administration found it a good idea to provide the students, known for throwing stuff, a bunch of handy ammunition to toss onto the field...and gee, let's use yellow which doesn't look at all like penalty flags....why don't we just give them Geico commemorative bricks? ;)

I would say Go Rams, but the Rams can't beat the Buffs, so they can STFU and STFD too.
The Buffs are done. I think they'd be lucky to limp into their yearly battle with the lowly Nebrask Cornhuskers, so they're done this year.
Their fans have absolutely nothing to celebrate. They ought to wait till the end of the game before they decide to mix booze with misery. So the Buffs beat WV. Big Fing deal.
What a bunch of losers! Maybe next year. This looks like another crappy year for the Buffs, Rams, and Air Force Falcons. So much for College Fall sports in Colorado.

For all of the CU and Boulder haters out there - Calm down. Even if you despise the Buffs, like chill134, then you must be naive to believe that rowdy student behavior at a Division 1 college football program only happens in Boulder. It happens in Fort Collins, Austin, Tuscaloosa, everywhere. Underage drinking, football and college are a recipe for disaster for some people -
McGowdog - No doubt CU hit rock bottom the last two games, but there is still plenty of football left to play and they will perform at a higher level. Have a little faith -

For the record, I don't despise CU football. I root for them. the only other fans that even rival CU is Penn State. My family (TX fans) were in town for the game. They were absolutely appalled at the behavior of the crowd. College kids being college kids is one thing, but that's not what's happening here. My mother had her purse burned with a lighter, was cursed at and spit on. Don't tell me that happens everywhere.
Righty-lefty, I'm not bragging that i've been to quite a few stadiums, i'm simply giving a frame of reference for my thoughts.

McGowdog - Let's see the mighty Rams (hehe) play in the Big12 with CU's schedule...UT, MU (away), KU (away), OSU....all ranked AND, I think, UT is a contender. If they put the wood to OU and then MU (home), they'll have to be #1.
This'll generate some controversy:
What CU needs to figure out is that they're not putting their best foot forward at QB...this nepotism has to cease. I like Cody, but he isn't our best bet right now - too short to throw over the middle and no threat to run.

Yes, my 68 year old mother was definitely spitting on others and lighting things on fire. She was the cause of all 57 who were ejected or arrested. I mean, she practically started the whole thing.

Every year, when I was a student, my alma mater came up with new ways to tighten down control on underage drinking. Each year, the drinking got worse. Every one of their attempts at control made it worse. But if the police force was aiming at increasing their revenue based on issuing tickets, then I guess it was a success.
Lower the drinking age to 18, let adults who can vote, and die fighting a war have a drink, too... i think you'll see the "alcohol related incidents" go down if you just back off a little.

Don't just blame the college students. An approximately 55 year old woman (season ticket holder) in front of me cleared out about 10 seats by vomiting on them and peeing her pants until she got booted by security. Never seen a college student do that at a game.

I know there's some football left, but I'm getting sick of the Big 12 South's domination of the North as of late.
How much are the Buffs gonna lose to the OK State Coyboys and the Tigers by? Heck, I see a loss to the Cyclones and A&M if they don't get their $h!# together. Count on a loss to Kansas as well to make it three in a row.
So as far as Buff fan getting trashed, don't blame it on the Buff. It's obvious they're doing that on their own.

The Buffs are by far the worst fans in the Big XII. They are well known for their piss poor behavior and out right unsportsmanlike conduct in the stands. I've had the opportunity to attend games at K-State, KU, and Nebraska. I virtually saw nothing close to what happens in Boulder. Yes, I consume alcohol before the games and enjoy the tail gating experience like many of you. And yes, there were plenty of drunk students and alumni but the atmosphere still contained respect for all those in attendance.
Here's the bottomline, CU has the reputation of accepting more out of state students than any of the Colorado colleges. CU gets a bad name because most of the violators are NOT from Colorado rather from most likely say "California". If the University of California at Boulder would send home the students whose behavior that is detrimental to the institutions code of conduct policy, then the CU games would be a tolerable atmosphere. If you don't believe me, go back and look up the major issues at CU that made it on the RMN and you will see the trend.

Within the past few weeks, I have attended the CU-WVU game & on Saturday, the USAFA-Navy game. Both crowds were huge & personal space was at a minimum in each venue to say the least. I'm a big Buffs fan, but my experience at Folsom was tainted once I experienced the civility of the Academy fans. Example: walking around the concourse prior to the game, or at half time. At both places you are shoulder to shoulder. Which is to be expected. The difference is that in Boulder, kids are pushing & screaming & spilling their drinks on you. That is until, of coarse, a group kids decides it's not their place to wait in line with the other 50,000 fans & they just start barreling their way through the crowd…regardless of who is standing in front of them. Not exactly a place you can bring your kids or other gentile people (elderly) to. Now in the Springs, similar situation as far as there being no walking room, but everybody gave each other their own space & get this…no pushing or disregard for other people…none whatsoever. It was like there were actual adults at the game. Sober enough to walk upright as well. I was impressed. It's been maybe 10 years since I've been to a Zoomies' game. I'll go back there before I go back to Boulder. Tickets are much, much better priced, & it takes 2 hours to get into both stadiums anyway.
On another note, when are the Buffs going to quit ducking the Falcons? CU does schedule an annual game against a D-II opponent, so schedule strength couldn't be a factor.
