The Avalanche today placed defenseman Adam Foote on the injured reserve list and recalled defenseman Aaron MacKenzie from the Lake Erie Monsters in the American Hockey League.
Foote sustained upper back and knee injuries in a Nov. 22 game in Los Angeles when he was checked from behind by Kings forward John Zeiler, who received a three-game suspension from the NHL for the hit.
MacKenzie, 27, had three goals and three assists in 16 games for Lake Erie. He played four seasons at the University of Denver, graduating in 2003. The Avalanche signed him as a free agent on July 14.
