Former University of Colorado football standout Jeremy Bloom is returning to the U.S. freestyle ski team to possibly revive his career in time for the Vancouver Olympics.
The Loveland High School graduate announced he will return to the U.S. team this week at its annual fall camp to evaluate how he feels.
At CU, Bloom was told he could not ski and play football because his skiing-related endorsements would make him ineligible in the NCAA.
He fought the ruling but eventually decided to give up football to compete at the 2006 Turin Olympics, where he finished sixth in moguls. He then went on to the NFL but was cut this summer by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"There are some questions to be answered, for sure," he said. "I haven't said this is a full-blown, 2010 comeback, but it could very well lead to that. That's a question to be answered in a little bit of time."
RAPIDS UNPROTECTED Veteran midfielder Terry Cooke, forward Tom McManus and defender
Jose Burciaga Jr. lead the list of 16 players left unprotected by the Colorado Rapids for the upcoming Major League Soccer expansion draft Wednesday.

BUFFALOES STUMBLE The CU men's cross country team placed 12th overall Monday at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
Buffaloes junior Jordan Kyle finished 14th individually. Dealing with back problems, Wyoming senior Mark Korir finished 71st. Oregon's Galen Rupp overtook Liberty's Sam Chelanga to win the men's title, and the Ducks grabbed their second consecutive championship.
Texas Tech runner Sally Kipyego won her third straight women's title, and top-ranked Washington captured the women's championship. Colorado State freshman Ellie Rastall finished 146th.
TIGERS RANKED THIRD The Colorado College hockey team (8-3-3) was ranked third by the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and U.S. College Hockey Online polls released Monday.
The University of Denver (7-5-1) was ranked ninth in the USCHO.com poll and 10th in the USA Today poll. Air Force (12-0) was ranked 11th in both polls.
