Home is where the heartbreak is for Broncos

Broncos running back Peyton Hillis fumbles after a botched handoff with Cutler in the first quarter. "We just kind of shot ourselves in the foot in a lot of ways, turnovers, letting them score on special teams," Broncos linebacker Jamie Winborn said.
1-5 record for the Broncos when they have two turnovers or more. The only only win in that group came against New Orleans. They had two turnovers Sunday.
Raiders running back Justin Fargas, in his sixth season, has had six games in which he has rushed for more than 90 yards. Three have come against the Broncos, including Sunday.

It might be time to roll up the welcome mat.
The visitors are getting way too comfortable, way too quick to make themselves at home at Invesco Field at Mile High.
And on Sunday, having spent the better part of an afternoon putting together a game that will need a significant upgrade simply to get tossed into the ugly pile, the Broncos were at a loss for words to explain their third consecutive home loss this year.
"It's one of those perplexing games," defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban said. "It's almost felt surreal in a way."
Some of the folks who paid to spin the turnstiles might have another word or two to describe the 31- 10 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
A loss that was so one-sided, so dramatic, so unexpected by many that Amy Trask, the Raiders' chief executive, took a moment in the waning minutes to tell a gentleman in a Raiders jersey being led away in handcuffs it was important to "be respectful" in somebody else's stadium.
Especially after you've done almost whatever you wanted inside it the rest of the day.
"We knew they were going to come in hungry," Broncos linebacker Jamie Winborn said. "We just kind of shot ourselves in the foot in a lot of ways, turnovers, letting them score on special teams. Defensively, they made some plays on us."
Offense. Defense. And special teams. Yes, that about covers the whole three phases of the game deal.
And in coming off two road wins in which the Broncos seemed to regain their balance at least some, they again also proved to all who care to watch that there is one thing this team positively can't handle right now.
Prosperity. No matter how slim the slice.
The Broncos started the season 3-0. They then spent a week preparing for a team they should beat, a team in several layers of trouble, a team that, on paper or on the field, shouldn't beat them.
Then the Kansas City Chiefs rumbled over them 33-19, still the only win for that team.
The Broncos had lifted themselves to 6-4 with wins in Cleveland and Atlanta in the previous two weeks. They had reasserted themselves as seemingly the only team interested in winning the AFC West.
They then spent a week preparing for a team they should beat, a team in several layers of trouble, a team that, on paper or on the field, shouldn't beat them.
The Broncos then became the Raiders' third victim this season.
"We're immature," Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall said.
The Raiders entered the game last in the league in passing offense and threw one incomplete pass. They entered last in the league in third-down conversion and converted their first seven of the second half before taking a knee on the eighth to end the game.
Jay Cutler completed 43.2 percent of his passes and didn't throw a touchdown pass in a game for the first time this season. The Broncos missed two field-goal attempts and they surrendered an 89-yard punt return for a touchdown. Oh, that was the only punt the Raiders returned all day.
"It's real frustrating to lose a game we were supposed to win . . . ," Broncos tight end Daniel Graham said. "Real frustrating."
And the list of games they are supposed to win is getting shorter all the time.
THIRD AND DONE
The Raiders entered the game as the league's worst offense in many respects, including net passing yards per game and points per game.
They also were last in third-down conversion, somewhere down in the going-to-pick-in-the-top-five-in-the- draft 22 percent area.
Yet there were the Raiders, converting one third down after another in the second half, keeping one drive after another together because of it.
"On defense, three-and-outs are always encouraging," Ekuban said. "You always feel good after those. But when it comes down to the other team keeping a drive going, sustaining drives and you can't get off the field . . . it's demoralizing, you get frustrated.
"Because everything you're talking about all week is getting off the field, and then you can't."
Before Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell took a knee on the final play of the game, Oakland was 7-for-7 in the second half on third-down conversions. That was after they went 1-for-5 in the first half.
But most troublesome from the Broncos' perspective was the fact the Raiders made all seven after halftime without Russell completing, or even throwing, a pass.
The Raiders ran six times, converting four third-and-1s - that total included two touchdowns - to go with a third-and-6 and a third-and-3.
In the other, running back Michael Bush threw an 8-yard pass that tight end Zach Miller snared one-handed that converted a third-and-3.
"We didn't stop them in the third-down area, which is something I thought we would do," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said.
MAN UP
The Broncos have spent much of this season talking about all the weapons on offense, about how they can challenge a defense from sideline to sideline, from the short, intermediate and deep routes.
How if - the Broncos have phrased it - a defense plays them "honest," there will be big plays on the docket.
The Broncos got what they wanted from the Raiders.
"They challenged us in man-to-man the whole game," Shanahan said. "Some of those plays we usually make, we didn't make."
The Broncos avoided Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha for much of the time. Asomugha stayed at his right cornerback spot the bulk of the game and didn't match exclusively on any of the Broncos receivers.
"He took away half the field," Cutler said.
That left the Broncos firing away at Chris Johnson, who started at left cornerback, and Stanford Routt, who played as the third cornerback when the Raiders went to five defensive backs.
But the Broncos didn't have a completion longer than 32 yards, and despite several attempts up the right sideline to shake a receiver loose from Johnson, it didn't succeed.
Toss in a couple of drops, and the Broncos didn't win any of the one-on-one battles enough to keep their offense out of trouble.

The 13 points we left on the field (Fumble on the first drive and 2 missed FG's) were our doing in, we let the Raiders believe they could win and then the punt return made them KNOW they could win. What I miss is the RIVALRY....REMEMBER when the PLAYERS hated each other, not just the fans?! Ashley was the ONLY one on the field that GOT IT. Until we get some swagger and attitude back on the field, we will struggle with lowly teams. And the fans in the stadium need to ROCK that place ESPECIALLY if they are down in a game! It sounded like a tomb out there. I remember the old Mile High ROLLING and shaking when the Broncos STUNK in the early 70's. Our fans were KNOWN for being the loudest there were, now we would rather get home and blog about firing the coach before the traffic gets bad in the 3rd quarter. PATHETIC!! COME ON DENVER!! TAKE OUR STADIUM BACK!

Gaho: Although I agree with your comments about allowing the Raiders back into a game we were initially fominating, your comments on the fans are of base. I've been at every game this season, including today's game, and what I saw was 1) players imploring fans to make noise but not knowing what their assignments were, even costing us a time out at least once, 2) no sense of urgency from this team, letting the clock essentially run out at the half, never playing much hurry-up when it mattered, and 3) more whining to the refs about flags that should have been called than players looking within as to how they could have lost to this team by 3 touchdowns. I yelled my lungs out today, but honestly, there wasn't much to cheer about, maybe other than some early goal line stands and DJ's would-be length-of-field catch and run.
The Broncos should have won this game if it were played inside a tomb. This one isn't the fans' fault. It doesn't help that we have so many injuries, but the team got flat out beat in all three phases of the game. I never leave games early, but this became unwatchable. It's one thing to make Rivers, Brees, and Cassel look Pro-Bowl bound, but JaMarcus Russell completing his first nine passes? I hate to say it but this team is just not that good.

That stadium is nowhere near as loud as it could be. That's all I'm saying. I agree with you about the "effort" today and am glad you are screaming as loud as I am, and I know thousands of us are, but the atmosphere is different than it was at one time. If we went up 13-3 early it would have been louder I agree, and watching our team get handled 3 home games in a row is hard to take, but I FIRMLY believe we have the best fans in the league, and was commenting more about the lack of fight in the team than the fans. You would have seen fights and ejections in the old rivalry, especially in yesterday's circumstances. It feels like they accept losing too easily almost anymore.. I miss guys like Alzado, TJ, and Romo on the field I guess. I apologize if I offended some of our great fans out there, that was NOT my intention in the least. I get frustrated with the weekly "Fire Shanahan" rants more than anything. There are far more pressing needs for this team than a coaching change. Our young crop of players are both fun and frustrating to watch, but things will get better! I know I would rather have a 6-5 team 2 games up in the division that nobody expected us to win than a team expected to contend for a championship sitting at 4-7. Maybe we'll get some players healthy, go on a run and cause an earthquake shaking the building so hard.... Lets hope!

Fortunately the Chargers lost too, but it really hurts to loose to the raiders!!!! Would have been nice having a three game cushion. Now we have to prepare for the Jets. This will be a tough game.

Hmmmm, lets see what is wrong with this team.....
1) Dropped passes. Marshall dropped at least two by my count, throw in another from royal, one from sheffler, one from graham and we see why Denver is #1 in dropped passes this year. Not exactly something to be proud of.
2) Fumbles! Once again, the Broncos are poised to score only to have someone laying the ball on the turf. A couple weeks ago it was hall, earlier in the year it was marshall and royal and this week hillis. If you can't hold on to the ball you can't score!
3) No defensive pressure. Russel doesn't even have to wash his jersey this week. He never touched the ground and never even had to run. I'm pretty sure he never broke a sweat.
4) Bad coverage. Seriously, Ashley Lelie, the guy everyone wanted to run out of town, looked like a pro bowler against this defense. Bly is overrated and overpaid. On the deep ball all he had to do was turn his head and he could have picked that ball off.
5) Injuries. Its never good when I'm at the game and I don't recognize the names or the numbers of half the guys on the field.

6) Coaching. You cannot come off of two road wins and play like this at home. This comes down to the coaches not having the team prepared. Add some horrific play calling and you're destined to loose. Really, a shotgun draw on 3rd and 15 when you're down by 21. Nice!
7) Bad calls at horrible times. The phantom pass interference call in the 4th quarter was terrible. It gave the raiders 1st in goal instead of 3 and out. I understand we got a gimmie against the chargers, but the refs have more than made up for it at this point.
8) No commitment to the run. This team use to control the line and the clock. Not anymore. Let's throw it all over the field, even though the wind is blowing 20 miles an hour and it's freezing cold. Hillis was averaging close to 5 yards a carry, but instead of letting him be a work horse we give him 15 carries and give bell some and whoever else we can find to run.
9) Coaching again! I've never seen a defense look so lost. Numerous times before the ball was snapped we had guys running around like chickens with no heads. You've been together for 11 weeks now and you still can't figure out your assignment. I wish I could get paid millions of dollars to not know how to do my job! In addition, receivers running incorrect routes, not coming back for the ball and missing blocking assignments can't help. All of this goes back to who???? Coaches!
10) Invesco Field. This place is a joke. There were 2,000 no-shows for Raiders week. Add to that the fact that there were 10,000 raider fans in the stands because so called bronco fans sold them their tickets and you've lost any home field advantage you thought you might have. I've been going to games for 20+ years and this stadium is beyond quiet. Seriously, it is a joke! Once upon a time we had a stadium filled with blue collar folks who would loose their minds during the game. Now we have a bunch or rich losers who are there to been seen and to say, look I've got season tickets, but what can we expect when Bowlen builds this monstrosity and keeps raising prices. It's only gonna get worse!
So there ya have it.

Not to rub it in (too much), but they better get their act together this week in practice... You think the Broncos were embarassed yesterday? Just play like this on this Sunday against my NY Jets! It could be just silly... Jets just beat New England and Tennessee back to back on the road, now the Broncos will be walking into the Meadowlands with 80,000 NY'ers going nuts and smelling blood...
But if there is a bright spot... Everyone in the AFC West is terrible, the Broncos should make the playoffs by default! But it will probably be a "one and done"...

The Broncos seem to be playing better on the road this year than at home, except for that debacle against the 1-10 Chiefs. The Broncos could very likely lose to the Chiefs at home; then they'll go on to be 2-14 and worse than the perhaps 0-16 Detroit Lions.
Now if the Broncos find a way to pull out a win against the Jets, that would be incredible. I ain't putting any money on that one though. A team that just beat the 10-0 Titans? The worst team the Broncos play from here on out is the Chiefs and the Bolts. Carolina, the Jets, and Buffalo are sporting winning records.
The Broncos have got to find a way to win 3 of these last 5 games. They do that, and they're 9-7. So if the Chargers win out, the Broncos have got to win their last one in San Diego. But if the Broncos win 3 and the Bolts lose one between now and the end of the season, the Broncos are in. If the Broncos could win 4 of the last 5, the Bolts can't catch them.
As pathetic as the Broncos were last night and in 4 other games this year, the Bolts are 4-7; only one game ahead of the 3-8 Raiders! That's kind of funny.
What shot does the AFC West have against the rest of the league? Unless the Broncos reinvent their pass rush, find a way to shut teams down on 3rd and long, overturn their -10 in takeaways stat, find a way to step it up at home, they're 1 and done anyway.
If the Broncos lose to the Jets and lose at home to the Chiefs, that's playoff suicide and I would say ShanaRat's last season with the Broncos.

As a devoted Broncos fan (yes, still) I will always follow and support this team through thick and thin, as I have been since the Floyd Little days. As terrible as yesterday’s game was I can only place the blame on Shanahan and Cutler. Everybody knew that coming into this game the Raiders had a decent pass defense and a below run defense…so why didn’t the Broncos attack their weakness? Shanahan’ game plan for this game was one of the worst, and there have been a lot of bad ones lately, that I have ever seen. It’s almost like the Broncos went into the game with a mindset that their passing game is top form and challenged the Raiders all game long. And Cutler…it worries me that he still making poor decisions (like throwing into double and triple coverage, throwing where he ain’t got no business throwing) and ending up with in completions or interceptions. I truly hope that he can outgrown those and mature into a top notch QB. I remember a QB way back when that we had high hope on…but that’s another story.

He's clueless out there. As a fan of Denver I'm starting to expect them to lose and it used to be the other way around. We are becoming the Raiders, just a bottom feeding team. Not to take anything away from Cutler, but if Plummer had the weapons Cutler has we would have won 11-12 or 13 games these last 3 years regardless of the defense.

This is almost my breaking point with Shanny. The fact that he didn't get his boys motivated for Oakland is saying something. I think Harris said that he didn't mind the raiders at all. That made me realize something very shocking. There is no "Bronco Identity"
I mean who are they? Not a smashmouth team, not a defensive powerhouse, not a offensive powerhouse (week in and week out anyways) not an overly fast team. I believe that this is the natural event because of the lack of turnover on the roster year after year. How many of the starters have played against the raiders in a Bronco's uniform at least 8 times (four seasons)? This is just off the top of my head but I can only think of Hamilton and Mike Leach. That is why we didn't have the emotion coming from the players and so it had to come from Shanny and it didn't... result=loss

You act like Bowlen got the new stadium and now is just doing nothing. Every year Bowlen lays out the money for Denver to try and get better. I heard all these same comments about Cutler that I heard about Elway when he came in the league. I for one support the Broncos win or lose and quite frankly think we have a heck of a future with all these young talented players.

GCKansas, exactly. People always whine after a loss and scream for blood. They can't help their negative nature, their immaturity, their lack of loyalty to this team or any team, for that matter. They just have no concept of the positives of the Broncos. We still have a 2 game lead over the Dolts, but they act like the loss is the end of the world. I mentioned it earlier that the Broncos went 10-6, was a wildcard and won the SB. On any given Sunday.

This team has a great future I am looking forward to watching it unfold; Special Teams gave away 13 points (2 missed field goals, punt return for a TD) and they fumbled the ball on the first possesion when driving for a TD (not excuses an observation); this team isn't good enough yet to overcome those mistakes; the Broncos will likely still win the division and we will get to see one more game before the season ends.
Cutler is going to be as good or better than Elway; he already has stats that are as good or better at this point in each others career. Elway won more but he did have a better D in his third season, Elway also played more games. (QB rating = Elway 69.2 Cutlers 90.6, Cutler has one more TD than Elway and 14 less INTs)

Must not be very old; Bronco's D was worse the 2 seasons that Phillips was the coach; and before 1975 they were terrible on both sides of the ball. Last season was worse!
Again, great future ahead; even though the Broncos lost it is still football (my religion) and will be interesting to see over the next few years with Cutler and Co.

philvysor, actually, they were concerned about stats. They were trying to get Terrell Davis his yardage to be the all time leader for yardage in a season. I do think we'll win the division, thanks to Hochuli and San Diego's continued losses. I just hope we don't get beat by 45 points in the first round. How many playoff wins do we have since Elway, anyway?

I am not worried about the players themselves. The boys on the offensive side have the potential to be the most explosive offense in a long time. And the defense has some emerging stars as well.
What REALLY worries me is the poor play-calling, the abandonment of the run, the inability to adapt on both sides of the ball, and the three game home skid. All of these things point to coaching.
From Bowlen on down, the coaches, staff and veteran players need to step up and take control of this team. Cutler needs to make that last push to finally become THE leader of this team. He needs to realize that his character off the field DOES play a part in his ability on the field. (Look no further than Eddie Royal for an example of talent AND character).
The pieces are all there. It just seems like the team lacks leadership and direction.
Leave the kids in there, but for God's sake, give them a plan and a mission before they go in the tank.

chill134, the people who frequent the 4 Mile bar have been seeing the Broncos games there for years. Many of us are like "family". We just do not tolerate bad mouthing of the team by other "so called Broncos fans". We will talk constructive criticism, always, but idiots like some of the ones I've seen on the blogs, screaming for Shanahan and Cutlers head, stating that Cutler is worthless, etc., is just ridiculous. I see a 1st place team that, yes, can improve, but I realize they are young and these type of letdowns will happen. I never make excuses for the team when they lose. You know, bad calls, turnovers, etc.. But rather I say things like "they should work in drills to put a stop to the fumbles". Bad calls happen. Welcome to football and human error. We had a new "Broncos fan" come to our bar when we lost to the Patriots. He was ranting and yelling (I do mean yelling) about "fire Shanahan, bench Cutler", dah, dah, dah. I told him to leave our table. One of the regulars almost "threw down" with him because he was so unruly. He hasn't returned since. We don't push people around in the bar, but we do respect our Broncos and stand up for them. We just don't like it when someone comes in and tries to bring the whole bar down into their depressive world. We go to have fun, win or lose. We will point out weaknesses and bad plays, but we don't bash. It's non-productive and accomplishes nothing.

I want the Broncos to succeed as much as you do, and I simply don't think we can do it with Shanny. We've tried every year since Elway left, and it hasn't happened. Not even close. I believe we have one of the best QB's in the league, along with the best CB, and some very promising receivers in Royal and Marshall. Talent is not the problem. We've had several defensive coordinators over the years to no aveil. The only constant is Shanny. To me, that's constructive criticism. It's not me calling for a public lynching. It's what I believe we need to once again be competetive in the playoffs. Everyone wants to talk about our division. It's no secret we play in the worst division in football, by far. We've lost to two (3, really) of those teams, 2 of which are probably only ahead of the Lions. We were embarassed by a very poor Raiders team and i'm simply not okay with that.

We get those types occasionally and one or many of us tell them to shut it up and let us enjoy the game. We watch the game, so we know just as well as any, that were getting beat. We don't need someone who was negative from the start, yelling and dissing the Broncos while we are already depressed enough from the beating the Broncos might be getting. We try to stay positive and yes, we say, there is always next week, because, well, there is. Denver is young and will make mistakes but thanks to SD, we are still 2 games in 1st. well to start out... i've been a broncos fan since the days of elway. i've watched them win and lose. i for one am hoping, after yestedays loss, that denver will just bow out of the playoffs. i would rather them not make it.... than to make it their and watch them get blown out 48-3. denver has no identity right now. they can beat atlanta at home, who hadnt lost a game at home yet, but than come home against the NFL's worst offense, who hadnt scored a single offensive touchdown in 15 quarters of football, and get blown out! I've never seen anyone else say this... but i never understood why we fired larry coyer. remember that season. denvers defense didnt allow a single touchdown for i think it was 4 or 5 games!!!! we had a top 5 rush defense and a decent pass defense... it was just that jake plummer and the offense could never get going! so the defense was on the field over 75 percent of the time! they got tired and we ended up losing games. instead of fixing the offense... they fired coyer.... got rid of a pretty good D-line.... and where are we now???? We let go of trevor price, al wilson, john lynch, jason elam, and many more. we bring in no name D-coordinators.... give them a year to ruin everything we had before... and than bring in the next loser. now we have a better offense that shoulders the whole load of the game! and the defense has no leadership. we have talentLESS safeties (the deep pass to lelie should have been intercepted by dre bly.... but could have been broken up by the safety! instead if you watch that play.... watch the safety.... he runs with lelie.... and just watches him catch it.... doesnt put his hands up.... nothing). it plays like that.... that get the fans pissed. its like watching someone go to work just to get a paycheck. and dont get me started on the play calling.... you're down by 21..... it's third and 15... what do you do. you throw it. NOPE. not in denver. you run it 3 yards and than wonder why you cant beat one of the worst teams in the nfl. cutler is a hell of alot better throwing the ball than plummer.... but he's too cocky! he throws into double and triple coverage... when other guys are open! and he never dumps the ball off to the running back. its always a big pass or nothing. Marshall had one of those days where he couldnt seem to handle the ball. Royal was even looked at by cutler that much. The team... AS A WHOLE... just looked like they wanted that game over with. and as a fan... i wanted it to be over with too. but now... even more.... they should not be in the playoffs. yes we are in a sorry division... but denver wont beat san diego... especially after we got lucky in the first game. san diego is playing way better. and i would rather them go into the playoffs and give someone a challenge.... than to watch another denver-colts playoff game. That's just my two cents. I'm ready for next year... and by the way denver is playing.... looks like getting ready for next year is a couple weeks away!

You can look at it a couple different ways:
You can close up shop, throw in the towel and give up on the season. Or you can ride it out, give the young guys more playing time, and see what happens.
Obviously, we have seen the extreme ends of the spectrum so far this season, but that comes along with a whole bunch of youth, a ton of injuries, and frankly having played some teams that are just better than us.
All of the shriekers and bridge jumpers can ridicule me all they want, but here's a dose of optimism:
- We are giving our reserves valuable playing time and experience.
- We are getting a look at some players in real-time, and in so doing, will be able to make more informed decisions come the end of training camp next year.
- We have an offensive line that will be the best in football with a little more growth in the area of run blocking.
- We finally have a legit 1-2 WR tandem for years to come in Marshall and Royal. (Don't think that Brandon isn't watching Eddie and how he conducts himself, either).
- We have a great group of tight ends that contribute in both the run game and the passing game.
- With a healthy Ryan Torain, Peyton Hillis, and Anthony Alridge, we may finally have our all-around back, our franchise fullback, and a legit speedster.
- We have a QB that has all of the tools to be one of the greats.
- We have a couple of linebackers in Woodyard and Larsen that are non-stop whistle-to-whistle playmakers who happen to have their whole careers ahead of them.
- We still have the best all-around cornerback in the game, and Bell and Williams show potential. Even Paymah has shown a bit of a resurgence.
With some wise moves in the draft on defense, and some prudent FA acquisitions, this team will be back in the running in under two seasons.
However, the success of this team is contingent on the young core taking ownership of their actions on and off the field. The veterans can talk until they're blue in the face, but at some point the kids have to start doing it on their own. And Cutler needs to continue to grow and take the reins on the field, in the locker room, and with the community.
We also need the coaches to take a long, hard look at the part that they have played in the outcome of this season. Play-calling, lack of adaptation, and home losing streaks all start with coaching.
But in the meantime, we need to realize that the bad comes with the good. I have no problem with bandwagon fans, but I don't want to hear them whine either.

I don't have a problem with people coming to the boards with different points of view. As a matter of fact, that is what makes things interesting here.
However, when differences of opinion degrade to name-calling, and wild assumptions about peoples lives and/or sexual preferences, then I think a line has been crossed.
But remember, we all have the opportunity to take the high road here, and you were the first one to throw the gay card out there. So I personally don't feel the least bit bad about calling you out about that. Not when you were the one to drag it down to that level.
I just think that at some point it becomes pathetic and ridiculous for someone to claim full ownership of the 'right opinion' on a blog about football. It's almost as lame as the back and forth playground name-calling that goes on in the political blogs.
I read all of your posts, and frankly, I agreed with much of what you had to say. So, free speech being what it is, feel free to come back and argue football, but leave the name calling for another venue.
BTW: I believe you mean that you COULDN'T care less what I think. As in, "Aside from his views on football, I couldn't care less what broncowilson24 has to say about anything."

your right jubei. i was acting a bit childish yesterday. maybe i shouldn't of thrown the gay card out there. the only problem i had was, i posted what i felt, and right away dave comes in saying that he's a better fan because he wants to watch his team play regardless of how they do. all i was saying in my post was that i would rather them not make the playoffs with the way they are playing right now... and save the team the embarrassment. This way they can focus on next year. than dave comes in and says that "i need to rethink my loyalty to the team" and that what i think "isn't logical." if you scroll up... just look at how many people were aruing with just him! So i got frustrated right away. I dont like people like dave. thinks he owns rooms because he's a small guy who sits behind a big computer.... waiting for people to write something that he can pick a fight with. and yes... aside from football views i COULDN'T care less what this room thinks.

We all get pretty riled up, especially after the team gets walloped by the Raiders...
I guess we all just need to agree to disagree sometimes.
I don't know Dave or anybody else on these boards personally, so I can't make judgments and assumptions about them just because they disagree with me. I expect the same in return.
You'll find out who the real trolls are pretty quickly. Aside from them, most of the rest seem to be good people.
And no, none of us should care too much about what people on a message board think about us.

broncowilson24, 1st things 1st, the people I bashed, are the ones who write in, week after week and say things like Cutler is a bust and he s*cks, etc. They do it every week. They want a reaction so I give them one. Personally, I don't care if you like me or not. You made assumptions yourself. You think I'm some overweight computer nerd? Nope. I've just retired. Sold my martial arts studio (Karate For Kids). I'm only 50. But I said I'm a better fan because I don't wish a loss upon my team. You did. In order that they not make the playoffs, they have to lose. That is wishing that they lose so your pride won't suffer the embarrassment? Football is full of embarrassing moments. My ex was a Raiders fan. When Denver lost, she would really, really rub it in. I would do the same when the Raiders lost. It's football. But your response because someones point of view is different then yours was to throw around the "gay card". In real life, out in the open, that can get you in a lot of trouble. Yeah, I tell someone to get an IQ check or call them pathetic (like Donkeys4life, when he writes in and calls us *sses). But your comment was wrong, that's why it was removed by staff. Smack talking is a part of football but you took it to a whole new level. As much as I may argue with people on this blog, I have twice as much supporters who back me, because I'm not afraid to keep the wolves at bay. Read the Sam Adams blog, They were wondering where I was because the Raiders fans came out of the woodwork and were bashing. I was on other blogs so I couldn't get on it till later. I was too busy talking with others who were saying they were Denver fans and wanted Shanahan fired, Cutler too. They write in, when we win and praise the team, then scream for blood when they lose. It's ok to get frustrated and point out weaknesses but not to whine. Those are the ones I target for my responses. Yes, I also give constructive criticism about the team when warranted, but I don't whine or make excuses for my teams loss. Many others do. Bad calls, etc.. "Welcome to football", is my response. It happens. But rather then complain, I point out the problem and offer a solution to fix it. But losing the games so we won't have to go to the playoffs because I'm afraid they will lose and embarrass me, is not one of them.

i apologise dynamic. i took it to another level and it was uncalled for. when it comes down to it.... we are both denver broncos fans. we just have different opinions. i'm not saying that we need to get rid of shanahan... or cutler. i just think that we need to get better.... or it would be better off if we didnt go to the playoffs. i know it doesnt seem to make sense that i say that i dont want them to lose... but at the same time i dont want them to make the playoffs. but all i mean is that if they continue to play at this level it would be embarrassing and hurtful to watch a beatdown. i dont like watching beatdowns... and the last few times denver barely made it into the playoffs.... they were beaten bad. i just hate to see that. but your right.... if they do make the playoffs.. and win at least one game... i will swallow my words. it would be worth it. i just hate seeing them lose to one of the worst teams.... when they have proven they are so much better than that.

broncowilson24, it's all good. I remember when Denver went to Sb's, including the Dallas loss and it wasn't pretty. I still watched, though. When Elway and the rest, kept getting pounded at the SB's, it never broke his spirit. He kept on playing and took a team to a W, two times. Remember when we lost in the playoffs to the Jags? It was hard to swallow but we endured and the next year, we won. A playoff game for these young kids is a good thing, win or lose. It gives them some insight. With all the changes our team has made, I'm proud of them for doing as well as they are. Is there room for improvement? Absolutely. And it will come. I remind people who say Cutler is in his 3rd year, that he actually has only played 32 games. That's 2 years of playing time. We looked ahead during the Raiders game and with all the new faces, they just don't get the hated rivalry? Heck, my son is older then most of them (31). These young kids were a gleam in there daddies eye during the 70's. Many of them were playing with GI Joes during the Elway era. They know nothing of the hate that Shanahan has for Al Davis. When they were asked about the fued, by the media, they gave a silly grin and a shrug and a yeah, like it didn't really mean much to them. They need to play as a team and bond. That includes in believing in their coach. Shanahan has brought us 2 SB's and yes, we haven't done much since but Plummer was not the answer. He choked, big time, against Pittsburgh. He had skills but he wasn't getting it done in the big one. I would have kept him in, though for the last 5 games, not put in Jay. It sends a bad message to the team. But, that's why they pay Shanahan the big bucks, to make those decisions. We, as fans, have to sit back, watch the games and for better or worse, take the win or loss. We haven't much of any other choices.

No problem. I also will be at the Chargers game. I have a friend who is a Chargers fan that I knew out here in Vegas. He moved back to San Diego with his new wife and bought 3 tickets for us. Ought to be interesting. We're at the 40 yard line, Denver side. I'm ready.
