The Broncos on Thursday signed tight end Chad Mustard Thursday for the second time this season. Mustard, who had been signed Oct. 6 and waived Nov. 4, was signed to replace Nate Jackson on the roster.
Jackson suffered a hamstring injury in practice Wednesday and after being evaluated Thursday morning – he had a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam – the Broncos put Jackson on injured reserve.
Jackson had played in 10 games this season, starting three. He had 11 catches for 84 yards and touchdown.

Man, the injuries keep going on and on and on. I guess the only fortunate thing was that it wasn't Scheffler or Graham, who are more of our "go-to-guys" on TE. Poor Chad probably feels like a ping pong ball?

Over the years Mustard has been added and dropped more times than any other player I can think of, at least in a Broncos uniform. I wonder if it would surprise the Broncos at all if one day Chad said "no thanks I'm tired of being your b i t c h!" Probably not, because who would really turn down a shot in the NFL....even if it is only for a few weeks at a time!

Too bad about Jackson. He is a gamer. Takes quite a few Easy Ed style shots over the middle too.

Bummer.
I like Nate. He seems like a good guy and as PDXBroncos noted, he wasn't afraid the go across the middle. It makes me a little nervous with the struggles that Sheffler has had staying on the field. But Graham has been looking very good of late, and Sheffler should be good to go this week. We'll be fine.

Look at the bright side. Mustard will be with the team for the rest of the season. He won't be bounced back and forth and will get a shot at the playoffs. Sorry to see Nate go down. Good player. But Chad will be hungry, I'm sure. He knows the system and just needs a week to get into a rhythm.

Agreed. I like how Sheffler gutted it out last week. If can stay healthy, look for him to get even better as a receiver. That's the trick though....so many injuries for Tony, and of course the host of other players. Makes one wonder if they are getting the proper strength and conditioning! Look at the recent years of down-the-stretch-fades...
As far as Graham, he has dropped some critical passes this season (and last), but his value as a blocker has certainly helped Jay in the pocket (I need not mention the outstanding front 5 here). Jackson will be missed though. Although he gets very few balls, he generally makes the most of them. I would not expect to see Mustard get too many, being most likely only used in double tight running sets, or as a run-masking TE if Sheff gets gassed. Good option for a bootleg pass, in my opinion.
Anyone know what Jackson's contract status is? It would be great to see him back in orange and blue next season.

I am shocked Nate Jackson made it 10 games before going on IR, that is a record for him. It's usually only 2, 1, or none and he's out for the season.

Nate-Jax is by far the most entertaining person on this team. Entertaining away from the field that is. He's not too bad on the field either, but there is a reason we hear from him every week during the post game from the locker room (it's not like he scores every week)...he's just good on camera...he's witty & well spoken. He needs his own TV show, or at least be the fill in for Cuts when he's out.
