Air Force

Swarm of Horned Frogs

Texas Christian doesn't have a player among the top 17 tacklers in the Mountain West Conference, but the Horned Frogs have the best rushing defense and total defense in Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A).

"They are superb," Air Force coach Troy Calhoun said. "Rarely do you see this, they don't have anybody among the conference leaders, the top 15 or 16 players in terms of the number of tackles. That's because they aren't on the field very long.

"But they sure have a bunch of guys that show up when it comes to sacks and tackles for losses. They have incredible quickness. They have guys that have been in that system for a long time. You look at the number of starters that have been part of that defense. And they play with great effort."

TCU offense praised

With all the talk about TCU's defense, the Horned Frogs offense sometimes is overlooked but not by Calhoun.

"They are very good," Calhoun said. "You look at their quarterback, Andy Dalton. He's a second-year starter and it's his third year in the program. And you have a running back like Aaron Brown, who coming into 2007 was the preseason Mountain West Conference player of the year."

He said it

"This has been a heck of a year even though we aren't close to being done."

Numbers game

201games since the last time TCU was shut out, the third-longest active streak in the country. Air Force hasn't been shut out in 192 games, the fourth-longest active streak.
