United Airlines will resurrect its daily nonstop flights between Denver and London on a seasonal basis next spring, citing high demand from its customers and a huge decline in fuel prices.

The carrier started daily service on the route last March but discontinued the flights at the end of October as part of broader moves to scale back its schedule amid financial and industry turmoil.

Since then, however, fuel prices have declined significantly, brightening the outlook for airlines.

“With fuel prices significantly lower today, combined with customer interest for travel to London during the peak travel season, we are reinstating the route,” said Robin Urbanski, a spokeswoman for United.

Tickets go on sale Thursday.

The service will continue through October, at which point United will assess the service’s performance before deciding whether to continue it again in 2010.

The news comes at a good time for city and DIA leaders, who are in Asia lobbying for nonstop service between Denver and Tokyo, among other things. Officials say it’s easier to attract new international service when they can show that other airlines have been successful in that area.
