110 consecutive saves for Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo spanning parts of five games before he allowed a third-period goal Wednesday.
Turns out, Avalanche center Ben Guite suffered an injury to his ribs late in practice Monday and will be sidelined indefinitely. Like captain Joe Sakic, who is nursing a back injury, Guite didn't accompany the team on the three-game trip, which continues Saturday in Edmonton and ends Tuesday in Calgary.
Coach Tony Granato originally said Guite, who was wincing in pain as he left the ice, "lost his wind," but the ailment turned out to be much worse than that.
Guite has two goals, two assists and a plus-3 rating in nine games. He also has won 58 percent of his faceoffs.
Granato is hopeful Sakic will be able to join the team at some point on this trip.
"He's back doing his treatments and, hopefully, they're going well," Granato said Wednesday. "We'll find out as the trip goes along."
OUT OF THE DOGHOUSE
Center Tyler Arnason exited Granato's doghouse Wednesday, suiting up against Vancouver after being a healthy scratch Saturday for the game against Nashville.
"He wasn't one of our best 12 forwards for the last game," Granato said. "Obviously, with a couple injuries, he's back in. He's a guy that's got to contribute in some way and find his way of doing it. That would be (playing) solid - be solid defensively and be able to make plays offensively."
Arnason had two goals and no assists in his first 13 games.
