So grateful Obama will take care of us
Virginia Jasper, Thornton

Isn't it great? With the election of Barack Obama, I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage, health insurance, gas for my car or college tuition! Obama will take care of us!
But to do everything he promised, he forgot to say that he needs to take our money, property and - most frightening - our freedom. But why worry, if it is good enough for people in Cuba, Russia and China, why not Americans?
Good job, voters, you have elected our very first Marxist president and given more power to the Democratic Congress responsible for the current financial meltdown.
At the U.N. in 1960, Nikita Khrushchev, the Russian premier, notoriously pounded his shoe on the podium and shouted they would bury us, meaning communism would bury capitalism. Funny, with this election, we buried ourselves.

This is a valid concern.
The government is convincing gullible people that all of their wants and desires will be filled by the government.
By that tactic, people become dependent upon the government. And then they become literal prisoners of the government, as the 'government' makes all of our decisions for us.
America seems to be moving in a very serious and dangerous direction. Even the Republican party is buying into this lie.
The question is: are we going to buy into the lie?? Or will we wake up, and 'just say NO' to this form of government?

We won't have to wait for January if the Congress gets back to the "people's business" not unlike " The People's Temple" of Jonestown. I'm hoping the will pass the "economic stimulas" package Obama is touting. Here's what we have to look forward to.
A check in the mail. Housing relief for millions of people who were "scammed" into buying $300,000 homes when they couldn't afford to rent a $500 a month apartment. Extented unemployment relief, (probably a good thing), more pork added to the "relief package" again. I can't wait to see the pork the Democrats add onto this stimulus package.
I hope the Republicans try to block it if it has more pork like money for Hollywood or for a wooden toy arrow maker. It's the least they could do on their way out.
Remember the Jim Jones cult? Just some advice. Stop drinking in the Kool-aid. Eerie simularities.

Hmmm, if anyone looks cultish, I'd say it's President Bush.
As far as socialism is concerned, there sure are a lot of banks that look nationalized in every way but name, and it happened under George Walker Bush, but Barack Hussein Obama.
What a bunch of whiners. If McCain had won, and liberals had whined, you'd be telling us to get over it. So try taking your own advice.

Perhaps when they see how Obama conducts himself, and will set a good example, (as he always has) they will learn some manners.

I guess you choose to forget the very loud and vocal anguish from the left, after the 2000 and 2004 elections?
If I recall correctly, the left claimed the apocalypse was upon us, the sun would never rise again, dogs and cats would live together (sorry, Ghostbusters), the right would destroy the nation, etc.
Heck, I even remember several left-leaning actors and artists(?) who declared they would leave the country, because Bush won.
But, I guess that was the left's version of "manners" and "being gracious losers"?
Wasn't it?

"Pork for wooden arrow makers? Check – It's already happening under President Bush."
Congress controls the "pork" spending, not the President. So, I guess you should blame the Democratic controlled Congress for that one.
In effect, Congress controls ALL Federal government spending, not the President. The President can only ASK and lobby for what he wants funded, it's up to Congress to decide what will and will not be.
Bush is an idiot and it's a good thing Obama now has a chance to show what he's all about and I wish him well.
However, having a Democratic Party President and Congress doesn't guarantee anyone will be happy with what they propose, nor does it guarantee they'll even get along.

I have what some might call "conservative values", but even I can see the value of most (though, not all) of what Obama says he would like to accomplish and I hope the American public and Congress will let him try.
