Very lucky Denver cat starts new life as 'Lexus Obama'

On election day he was just another tabby cat, using up several of his nine lives as he dashed across downtown Denver traffic.

Before the day ended, he was a very lucky tabby cat with a historic second name.

OK, take a guess.

"Lexus Obama" came into Marrianne and Andy Rizzuto's lives just the way they thought he would — by surprise. When the Rizzutos lost their beloved cat Dante Monia de Gato III last summer to a fox's jaws, they didn't have the heart to replace him.

Then, on election day, at the Lexus dealership where Rizzuto works, a kitty was found crying under one of the new cars. He had been seen skirting traffic that day, and it seemed a miracle he survived. Somebody suggested he belonged with the Rizzutos, who love cats.

The couple also love the president-elect, and hope he'll be a center of conversation for the next eight years. So, figured Marrianne Rizzuto, "We couldn't call the cat 'Obama' as a first name, because we'd get too confused in the years to come."

The only reason this cat lived is because Obama was looking over him.

So when they don't have a job selling Lexus vehicles and are eating cat food to survive, they can look at Obama and blame him.

How can someone love Obama without meeting or knowing him. This cult following is becoming disturbing to say the least. The guy is the president elect, a public figure and that is it.

These people do a kindness and give a cat a home, and all you people can do is make nasty comments. That's really sad.

As the Obama stories fade, the staff at the RMN newsroom will also be purged for economic reasons. Maybe then we will begin to get real news and not high school drivel.

Hope that these libs don't force the BO koolaid on the new cat. It is obvious that they drank the koolaid but giving it to the cat would be cruelty to animals. And what an oxymoron: 'Lexus Obama'; those two words are totally incompatible. Should be something like 'Pinto Obama'.

I'm forwarding this story to PETA and the ASPCA, so that somebody will do something about cruelty to animals. To be saddled with the name "Obama," whether as a first or last name is just too cruel for words. Is the cat's middle name "Hussein"? Euthansia would have been more kind. How can people be so cruel?

Sorry Spencer, but current unemployment is clearly Obama's fault. As his imminent election became apparent in the last two months, employers began planning for the inevitable downturn in the economy, and are now laying off workers.

This despite GWB's courageous and effective efforts to bring down the price of fuel, for the sake of economic growth.

(I'm only kidding above, but Bush-blamers, be aware your days are numbered. It's always easy to blame the guy at the top, whether he deserves it or not. It can even be done before the guy takes office.)

For God's sake, this is a story about a couple being kind, rescuing a stray cat and giving it a good home. So they named it Lexus Obama, what's the big deal about? My guy didn't win, but I'm not trolling the boards trying to elicit negative responses about it.

As for the cat & couple, I hope that they bring each other years of unconditional love and happiness. Good job on the rescue/adoption, you've made each other (and me) very happy with this story.
