Poll

Should the Nuggets keep Antonio McDyess?

He Said It

"It's not for sale. He can get (J.R. Smith's). I got more years than J.R."

Kenyon Martin, who isn't interested in giving newly acquired Chauncey Billups the No. 4 Billups wore for Denver from 1998 to 2000. Billups, who will don No. 7, wore No. 1 for Detroit. Smith said he wanted No. 4 as well but ended up with No. 1.

McDYESS MAD

Sources emphasized a key reason Antonio McDyess, acquired from Detroit in Monday's big deal, doesn't want to play for Denver is he's still bitter at perceived mistreatment regarding his June 2002 trade from the Nuggets to New York.

While Denver's owner remains Stan Kroenke, management has changed.

"If they (management) want me to do that, I would be glad to," said coach George Karl, who wants McDyess to play for Denver, about calling to persuade him.

Carmelo Anthony also is willing to work on McDyess. And executive Rex Chapman has an in, being McDyess' former teammate.

Buyout talks have been at a stalemate as McDyess wants to return to Detroit.

HURTING HUNTER

To get another opinion on his ailing right knee, Denver's Steven Hunter saw Vail specialist Dr. Richard Steadman on Wednesday.

"It's another thing to help the issues he's had," said agent Mark Bartelstein, who wouldn't say if surgery could help Hunter.

After being hopeful last week, Karl isn't optimistic about Hunter helping the Nuggets soon.

ANTHONY'S SHOP

Anthony is owner of Studio 15, a posh downtown barbershop opening today.

The lead barber, Lewis Griffin, recently cut Anthony's cornrows.

"One of the most needed things these days is a fresh haircut," Anthony said.

    Your skills are needed here.

Yes, I agree, I'm totally sick and tired of McDyess from his last stint here. The guy is a perpetual cry baby and has never warrented the huge contracts he's received. He has some audacity to hate the Nuggets he had no problem cashing their checks for tens of millions of dollars while he sat on injured reserve complaining the team wasn't winning enough for his liking and then underacheiving when he did play.

I like McDyess, he's a decent guy. But if he wants to play for us great, but if not he needs to accept a much lower buyout than his full salary. Thats not very fair to say he doesnt want to play here but still wants a big chunk of his pay, its either one or the other. Resolve it soon so we can get him or Juwan back at least.

He's bitter at Nuggets management for trading him to New York? I'm bitter he was damaged goods most of the time he was in Denver. Ask Knick fans about Dice.

He's bitter at the Nuggets management? Rex Chapman was in a Suns uniform around that time. He was McDyess' teammate in Phoenix during his best year as a pro.

Why would he extend the issues from years ago to the current situation?

    Well, that's because he's a child in a grown man's body.

I hope the Nuggets don't cave in. Sit on his contract and hopefully he will retire.

No play, No pay. Either earn your money or stay home and cry. I prefer the second choice. You are not worth minimum salary. Do us all a favor and retire.

So McDyess is mad at the Nuggets eh? The fans should be mad at McDyess. He had an enormous amount of talent and the physical skills to dominate, but never did. He never had that fire in the belly or the killer instinct to become truly great. Go to Boston McDyess and ride the coat tails of the big three and get your championship. I agree with the_KIMN_chicken, he always underachieved here. What about Carmelo's new haircut? He cut the locks to show he's starting to change and become a different person. Shedding the old skin so to speak. In my opinion, he cut his hair to get some advertising for his new high end barbershop. A subtle and shameless plug for Mr. Anthony. Carmelo cares about one thing folks, Carmelo Anthony. I'm starting to wonder if we didn't ship the wrong player to Detroit.

McDyess is a flake. Does anyone else remember the debacle when he signed here for his second stint in Denver?? He sat out in his limo, refusing to come into the arena to sign his contract. Crying on the phone to Jason Kidd about how he wasn't sure he made the right choice. It took Van Exel showing up and sitting in the limo with him to convince him to sign with Denver. Then when he signs in Detroit he states publicly he just wants to come off the bench and doesn't want to start. I love his skills but I almost feel like we would be better off with Juwan on this team. Let the cry baby McDyess go somewhere else.

Trade McDyess, to the Cavaliers for Anderson Varejao and Darnell Jackson, the salaries match up and they are both PF with Anderson being the key in this one. It works on the ESPN trade machine. Check it out.

Mad at ALL of Denver, or just certain neighborhoods?

I would trace this back to Bush's carelessness and negligence regarding yellowcake in Nigeria. It is, indeed, Bush's fault.

Call off the deal and bring back AI, unless you can pull off another trade, maybe someone will be willing to trade a center or a point guard for a couple of whining brats

It's a miracle McDyess was able to play again, he had so many knee issues and was considered a bust. We don't know what went on but its a business and all of the staff responsible is gone. McDyess makes this a good trade, if they let him walk this only makes sense for the sake of not letting Iverson just walk away after the season. Hopefully Billups is 2004 not Billups of 2008.

Guys cool out, let's look at the big picture. The nuggets need size and a post man. McD would be a nice addition. Look at our other options, not a good look. McD, stop with the madness and Man up. New managerment, all players get a second chance. Why can't management get a second chance. Hell even with McD, still bring Howard back. Steven Hunter and who, are our bigs. Enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McDyess was supposed to be they guy to build a team around like Melo now. He was the hope and it didn't work out. He never became this amazing player that he clearly could have been before he was hurt. I don't feel bad about the fact when I was paying a bunch of money for season tickets and the team couldn't win a game. I had to go to games by myself because nobody cared about the Nuggets. Some nights the stadium was empty. I wonder how Charlie Lyons and Ascent Sports felt about it? Or Stan Kroenke when he bought the team? Its a business and you move on. How thinned skinned is this guy?

He had an injury and was never the same. He was traded to NY and hurt his knee right away again. Think if the Nuggets had Martin and McDyess on the same team? "The glass knee squad."

Look, it doesn't matter what happened in the past. The fact is this team is awful in rebounding and they gave up countless second chance opportunities in the 4th quarter last night to the Warriors. Let me say that again. THE WARRIORS! McDyess fills a major hole for this team and by default, he's our best postup big man. This guy has a chance to make this team special and gives them a greater opportunity to do some damage in the West. Nene and K-Mart contracts will never be traded away so your stuck with 80% of this team until atleast 2011. So let's look at the roster: Billups, JR, Melo, K-Mart, Nene, McDyess with the possibility of keeping Kleiza and 2 first round draft picks in the 2009 draft. It may not look like a flashy line up but this is a real solid team that will definitely compete for a championship in the west.
