Nuggets quick links

For those holding out hope Antonio McDyess will report to the Nuggets, don't count on it.

"Very, very low to zero," McDyess' agent, Andy Miller, said Thursday in labeling the percentages his client will come to Denver for a third stint with the team.

McDyess was packaged with Chauncey Billups and Cheikh Samb on Monday in a trade that sent guard Allen Iverson to Detroit, but it widely has been speculated since the deal was announced the Nuggets would buy out McDyess' contract.

McDyess, who wanted to finish his career in Detroit, would become a free agent if bought out, but he would have to wait 30 days before re-signing with Detroit.

"For Chauncey, this was a no-brainer," said Miller, who also represents Billups. "For Antonio, this was never a possibility."

Miller said when McDyess signed with Detroit two seasons ago, he believed it would be his final contract and would finish his career a Piston. Miller said he is "having discussions" with the Nuggets and expects a resolution shortly.

"I don't want people to be confused because some people have said 'Dice' doesn't want to come to Denver," Billups said. "Dice loves Denver. He's come here twice. . . . He has a decision to make. He's in the latter part of his career and is tired of moving."

IF McDyess fails to show up, would the Nuggets be obligated to pay him any money? If not, then, why should they be in a hurry to buy him out??? (Oh, salary cap)

What's more cost effective? Paying him millions to go back to Detroit? Or DOCKING HIM for not reporting... until he retires? Taking away that paycheck will nicely offset any hit he represents to the salary cap. Get a backbone Nuggets. Don't cave to him or his shady, sabre-rattling agent.

Let him retire or trade him . Don't give him a dime. If Detroit wants him back then they should give up a player or draft picks. This is a business not a charity.

NO BUY OUT!!! Require him to report and fine him for every day he is absent. Force him to retire or work for the money. For 6.8 million a year you could hurt my feelings all that you want. Then again I am not a spoiled washed up sissy that has to have everything my way. Good move getting Billips back. Now use the same guts to deal with loser McDyess!!!

Theres a Lot of teams that is interested in McDyess
Cleveland, Detroit of cause, Orlando and Boston.
Find a Trade, Boston has a Big young Perkins.

The only reason why I would like McDyess on the
Nuggets is seeing this line up against the Lakers,
Melo SF, Dyess center and Nene at PF
    Running the Triangle O-fence
Chauncey and JR Smith at the point.
    Thats Big and insane

I see no reason to buy out McDyes' contract. What's in it for the Nuggets? Can someone explain why they would even consider it?

The Nuggets would buy it out to save money. They could buy it out for slightly less than it's worth and save cap space. The only reason McDyess was included in the deal was to even up the finances. It could have even been pre-arranged that the Nugs would buy him out.

In the past, players could return to their previous team immediately. Now, they have to wait 30 days.

Given his proness to injury it's best he doesn't show up. Over the years we have led the league, year in and year out, with players sitting behind the bench wearing Armani suits or Phat/South Pole attire rather than being on the floor in their "Work" attire. With all due respect to ESPN'S Chris Berman, the king of doling out nicknames, I gave them all the same nickname....."Street Clothes"!
