Your board has seen better days. Your jacket's not keeping the chill out. And darn it all, you're simply looking for a way to get excited about the upcoming ski season.
Visit the 17th annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo on Friday through Sunday at the Convention Center, and you'll leave a happy ski or snowboard bum. In addition to sales on equipment and styles, the event includes entertainment, competitions and giveaways. Also, Colorado Ski & Golf is expanding their recycling program so that attendees can drop off old and unwanted skis, snowboards, cross-country skis, boots, poles and bindings at the Expo and do their part to keep equipment out of landfills.
An estimated 30,000 people attend to take advantage of the deals on skis, boards, boots, poles, clothing and accessories. All of Colorado's resorts will have exhibits, with information about improvements at their resorts.
Other action:
* The Honda Rocky Mountain Snowdown Rail Jam is a competition in which skiers and riders literally ride the rails. The ramp is free to ride but participants must provide their own equipment and sign a waiver. The rails will be open for practice Friday and Saturday with competition Sunday.
* Special guest appearance by freeskier Glen Plake, a widely known face and personality in skiing.
* A high-flying trampoline show; this year's performers, the SkyRiders, are headed by three-time national champion Ken Kovach.
