I understand the concept of supply and demand. But when RTD’s riders are way down, they hike up the price because they are not making enough monies. Now they are getting too much riders because of the gas prices. They are still not making enough monies. They are talking about a possible fare hike. I understand the gas price is part of their problems. Maybe their management is also part of their problems. After all, they only collect about twenty percent of their total monies from fare boxes.
The rest, they get from taxes. I pay taxes and still have to pay for rides. It’s a catch 22. Regardless of the economy, prices of everything will go up. Look at you food prices. Still because of gas prices. When will the government step up and stop allowing the oil companies making billions and billions in profit. Yes PROFIT.

Wechasa, please get back on your meds.
So when your ridership goes down, you charge them MORE? This is not exactly a good business model to attract more customers. It surprises me not that RTD means Reason To Drive.

clyde, this also includes Denver water dept. They ask the people of Denver to conserve their water comsuption and look what happen. The water dept. lost monies because people used less water and now they charge more money for the water. Different pay play for them. This can also be a supply and demand. Does not matter, prices will always go up.
