Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Democratic candidate Barack Obama ran neck and neck last month in campaign contributions from Coloradans, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
McCain raised $379,500 thanks to large donations from some of Colorado's major Republican Party contributors. They included beer executive Peter Coors, $2,300, and former Colorado congressman Bob Beauprez, $1,300.
Obama raised $387,000 and his opponent for the presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton, took in $202,000 during April, the filings said.
That brought Obama's total Colorado donations to almost $3.4 million since the campaign began compared with almost $2 million for Clinton and about $1.3 million for McCain.
