The agent for Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony shot down trade speculation Wednesday, saying recent media reports are based on "bad information."
Calvin Andrews of BDA Sports Management said the Nuggets are "not shopping" his client despite reports the team has had preliminary talks with the New Jersey Nets.
"He was caught off-guard, getting all these calls and seeing his name in talks about getting traded," Andrews said.
According to reports out of New York and New Jersey, the Nets and Nuggets have discussed parameters of a deal involving Anthony and Marcus Camby.
Anthony, who turns 24 on May 29, is entering the second year of a five-year, $78.9 million contract. When he signed the deal in 2006, he was under the impression the team would keep him in the loop regarding free-agent signings and trade talks.
"That's why he was so bent out of shape," Andrews said.
After talking with the Nuggets, Andrews expressed confidence Anthony won't be traded.

Trading Melo would be stupid, and what would Denver get back in return that would be fair? New Jersey could package several players and their lottery pick and it still wouldn't be enough for Melo.

If they trade Melo OR Camby, this team will go down the tubes. Melo gets better every year and Camby is playing the best ball of his career right now. If they deal either of them, don't expect AI back either. We'll have to be forced to watch the team "rebuild" for the next 5 years. I'd rather watch a first round exit then endure 4-5 20-win seasons anyday!

I'm not much of a Melo fan, but I agree with kmeissner. The hapless Nuggets of not-so-long-ago and the humiliation involved loom large in my memory. I just don't see anything out there to make it worth giving up Melo or Camby, much less both of them.

We do not need to trade Melo at all, what we need to do is FIRE George Karl!!!!!! We have Melo, & A.I, who can give us 25-30ppg apiece and Camby who can Defend well and K-Mart who is playing great ball on both sides after is injury, We also have NENE who will be back healthy and stronger and J.R. Smith who is a great talent and have great protential. But we have no COACH who can bring the best out of the talent we have. GEORGE KARL SUCKS as a coach, he havewn't won anything since he left Seattle and acctually didn't win there. Dont trade Melo that's INSANE, trade Karl or fire him. We need a coach that can preach DEFENSE.

How many ture nuggets fans are on this form. All of the Melo bashing has got to stop! He is a great player and is only going to get better. i have been a nuggets fan since before they came to the NBA and this is one of the best teams talent wise they have ever put on the court. I think is starts with the coaching, if the coach ain't doing his job, any player nowdays are going to run wild. Melo is not the blame for the first round exit. Can anybody tell me when the Nuggets have had a better player take them to the playoffs. Remember 5 years in a row in the playoffs, not the lottrey. The team we have now is a good team, but we need a big man that can do some damage down low, not at the top of the key like Camby. If the Nuggets were to trade Melo at this point in his caree i would quit being a nuggets fan, and that would be hard to do because i have been a fan for so long. Jefferson has never been or will be as good as Melo. So all of you so called Nuggets fans quit the Melo bashing and place the blame where it need to be placed on the front office and the coach.

All the Nuggets really need is to stop starting or even playing Anthony Carter because he makes stupid plays almost as much as Melo. Then, they need to somehow get rid of Melo and Kenyon and focus the attention around Iverson because Iverson knows what to do, he knows how to be a leader of a team, but he just needs the tools to do it. The nuggets don't need anymore real scorers, they just need players who are smart and understand the game.Camby is a player they need to keep because he is someone who you know has the work ethic and the heart to win a title. Unlike Kenyon or Melo. Yes Kenyon and Melo are good players, but just are not the type of players that will help a team get to the finals. Look at Lebron he hasn't had the best skilled team in the past but he has had a team who respects each other and wants a title as bad as him and that is what the Nuggets need they don't need anymore 1 on 1 scoring players they just need someone to lead the perimeter defense and man to man defense, like Ron Artest who they were looking at or a Gerald Wallace or Bruce Bowen. Allen Iverson is the key to the Nuggets if they can get some worthy players because the only players that have great maturity and are going to continue to improve or have improved are Allen Iverson, Marcus Camby, J.R. Smith and Linas Klieza plus some other players like Najera or Diawara. About the coach they need a coach who can teach players about work ethic and defense, but i guess a coach can only do so much.

Just like i said before no real nuggets fans on this post. Everbody on here must like the 11-71 nuggets better than the 50 win nuggets. CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOURSELF!!!
