Is Broncos running back Travis Henry's hamstring injury a cause for concern?

Story Tools

— A pulled hamstring will cause tailback Travis Henry to miss the Broncos' first minicamp in advance of the 2008 season.

Henry suffered the injury Friday on the last of several 100-yard dashes that were part of the team's strength and conditioning program.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said today he doesn't expect Henry to be available before Monday, which means he'll miss this week's passing camp.

Henry, who took a pay cut to stay with the Broncos, missed four games in 2007 because of injuries. He got off to a quick start after his arrival in Denver, rushing for 100 yards in three of his first four games. But he didn't reach that level again because of rib and knee injuries.

Off the field, it came to light last season that Henry had fathered nine children with nine different women, and then he went to battle with the NFL, which wanted to suspend Henry for one year for violating its substance-abuse policy. The NFL eventually agreed it would not suspend the tailback, but he remains in the league's substance-abuse program and is subject to testing.

The Chargers fan COULD care less. I think the expression that he/she was looking for was couldn't care less. If you could care less, then you actually care.

I sort of care. The Broncos can do much better without him, but that is just my humble opinion. Rather have someone there who actually wants to be there.

Lol why would a Charger fan even read an article about the Broncos, much less leave a comment? Could it be they are that desperate for a backup to La Danian after Michael Turner left? La Danian has done some great things, but he is pretty fragile. The window for the Chargers to do anything substantial is closing very quickly. The Chargers will soon be back to their happy-to-get-6-wins-in-a-season selves. Especially under Norv (8-8) Turner.

What, earlier this article by Lee Rasizer said no one knows where Henry is, that is the only no show and unexcused....Lee, you might want to do a little research before you smear someone. Did they ever teach you that in journalism School or are the ethics at the Rocky Mountain so pathetic it has become a normal practice for all you journalists?
I would say the latter fits the ticket very well considering it happens all the time with both the Liberal papers in Denver.

Look how you guys smeared Bush(appease Terrorists)and made Obama look like he was the victim...hell Bush never even made a connection with him....If it was directed at anyone it would be Jimmy Carter and Pelosi. No wonder the Liberal media is competing with the Democratic lead Congress in poor approval ratings.

Any time there's a hamstring issue, they feed the fans the same lame story, "a few weeks". BULL shi'ite !! Once a hamstring is tweaked, it's a nagging injury that wrecks that players performance the entire season. It doesn't go away. It doesn't get better. Mainly because of the bone-head attitude of football coaches: "play through the pain!"..... duhhhhh. They never give it a chance to heal. This type of injury gets agravated and reagravated again and again and again.

Both of Denver's "liberal papers," thats a funny one...

Back to football... in the sports section,

Based on his salary, I think we were looking down the barrel of another two feature back season anyway, if he can't play then hopefully we should see more of Torain, and if his lis franc aint right, then maybe we will see the return of Mike Bell, all the while Selvin and Hall could be tag teaming the outside. If I were coach. Of course if I were coach, the Donks would still be in the traffic cone orange jerseys with sky blue helmets.

I am not sure Henry is the man!!! but the only problem is the other two, Young and Hall were pretty much every other game type backs too! I wish they would have taken Mendenhall in the draft!

I think the fact that he redid his contact, and took a good size pay cut in order to stay with the team shows that he wants to be here.

Henry will do fine, but this is a little concerning given his injury history; good thing it is way ahead of the season and has plenty of time for hamstring to heal FULLY.

Another injury for Travis Henry? Is this guy for real? I wonder what other injuries he will have when going against linebackers and DT's.
