A 3-year-old Arvada boy died Friday after apparently choking on a piece of hot dog at a licensed home day-care facility.

Kyle Cox was pronounced dead at Lutheran Hospital.

At around noon last Friday, the toddler was eating a cut-up hot dog at a table in a home in the 6800 block of Tabor Court. A 42-year-old female day-care provider, who is not being identified, was supervising the meal for a number of children at the time.

When a piece of the meat lodged in the boy's throat, the woman called 911 and began administering first-aid. It appears it was an accidental death and no charges will be filed, police said.

Another child dieing due to stupidity. You are not supposed to feed children 3 and under foods like hotdogs and grapes unless they are cut up into very small pieces, because they will CHOKE on these foods. It may have been an accident but a preventable one.

To vudumom- You need to know all the facts before you start spouting off about a situation you don't know anything about. This daycare provider is an absolute angel. The hot dogs were cut up into tiny pieces. The police saw his plate and saw no negligence. My daughter has been going there for two years and we think the world of the daycare provider. Isn't is possible that this was just a sad, sad tragedy? I know for a fact that she did everything in her power to save that child. Who are you to judge her? You should be ashamed of yourself.
