Cops in pursuit cause security breach at DIA
A security breach at the north screening facility at Denver International Airport delayed flights this morning and caused long lines through checkpoints.
"It was at 10:02 this morning," DIA spokesman Chuck Cannon said. "The area was secured by 10:24 a.m. All trains were stopped and all screening was stopped."
Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement were at DIA with an arrest warrant for a man and a woman suspected of dealing in counterfeit goods, said Carl Rusnok, spokesman for ICE.
They'd been tracking the pair's movements and were at the airport to snag them before they boarded their flight.
According to Carrie Harmon of the Transportation Security Administration, the officers had been cleared through the north security checkpoint when "a question arose as to whether their credentials had been properly verified."
So, "they closed the checkpoint at about 10," she said. "The TSA, along with federal air marshals and the Denver police were able to locate (the ICE officers) on the B concourse and to verify their credentials."
"So, we reopened the checkpoint at about 10:25."
There will be a meeting this afternoon to determine if the check of the credentials was deficient, if someone simply forgot whether the check was done properly, of if something else happened.
Rusnok said the ICE agents were able to execute the warrants. The identities of the two suspects were not released because the investigation is ongoing, Rusnok said.
The security wait time as of midafternoon was about five minutes, according to DIA's Web site -- FlyDenver.org.

This normally wouldn't be a story but beings it was ICE involved the Rocky feels it needs to be brought out in the open to try and discredit an agency trying to secure our homeland.
It will probably be on the front page of tomorrows paper.
RMN mind set

This is one of the worst story headlines of the day. I would say worst ever, but with the RMN that's really saying something.

Hey Jay, or ignoramus, those minor "counterfeit" goods you dont seem to be worried about include fake American ID's and social security numbers, hopefully one of the numbers was yours...Try and think outside of the box a little before you spout off about that which you do not understand, or care to think through a little....Cant believe those ICE agents had the courage to try and protect us a little, your right tho Jay

So, Bill - the headline says the "cops" caused the delay, but the article seems to clearly indicate the TSA caused the delay. ICE is getting the blame for the TSA not knowing what they're doing...I know that's not new, but do try to attach the correct headline to the story. "TSA Doesn't Know Credential From Hole in the Ground - Causes Delays at DIA" That type of thing....

jay's a typical bleeding heart who thinks the U.S. needs to, and can, "help" EVERY SINGLE poor person who has the opportunity to sneak over one of our borders. I don't share his views on that.

A lot of money can be made in counterfeit goods, you just have to exercise caution, be patient and diligent. Traits the blue-collar criminal lacks.

Good going ICE, even though they might not be Mexi's. Illegal criminals are illegal criminals.
