Noted attorney takes bison case

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Story Tools

The man accused in the deaths of 32 bison who strayed off his Park County neighbor's property has hired a prominent Denver defense attorney.

Pamela Mackey is representing Jeffery Scott Hawn, of Austin, Texas, who was charged last week with theft, criminal mischief and cruelty to animals. She could not be reached for comment.

Mackey previously represented Los Angeles Lakers all-star Kobe Bryant in a sex-assault case in Eagle County that later was dismissed.

Hawn is accused of killing two of the bison himself and bringing in hunters who killed the rest of the bison March 19.

He is scheduled for a bond appearance in Park County on Monday.

She's going to use the same defense that she used in Kobe's case: the bison asked for it. Additionally, they were dressed provocatively with bullseyes painted on their sides and the Texan fell for it....slam dunk case for the defense.

Attorney Mackey plans to use as her defence theory that Jeff Hawn's letter had a minor typo ... he meant to remove Prairie Dogs - instead of buffalo.

Since this guy's last lawyer publicly admitted that Hawn ordered the animals killed, he was a bit late in getting competent help. If he had talked to Mackey earlier he might have understood that taking the law into your own hands is a bad idea.

yeehaw, you must be new here. If you're gonna make this a regular stop you're gonna have to get used to mike's incessant ramblings. Or you can do like I do and don't bother reading them any more. I find my head hurt's way less since I've taken this approach : )

    Hey Yeehaw
Thanks for noticing my post,my distaste is for the idiots of the planet. Since you do not know me,I especially like the way you judged me for my thinking.First of all I have lived all over the world among many different people.I have found the southerners to be rude obnoxious and just low class.Money does not equate to breeding.I am far from being a snob. But I do remember one time in Harrods being accosted by a woman who asked me in a texas drawl.Your american aren't you? These people are so uppidity and will not talk to us.Well when you are loud and being a big sideshow what can you expct from people.Me when I travel I remember to thank people for treating me so well.I have been fortunate wherever I have lived to make friends and people who treated me like family. So now when these people cross my path I get away from them. Why because I strive to be a polite well rounded person. That means keep act and behave likea person of polite manners and remember you are a ambassador for your country.By the way when I lived in europe not one person robbed or mugged me.Wish I could say that about the U.S.
