Police are reporting that a large natural gas line broke in the 3700 block of South Lowell Boulevard in Sheridan this morning.
Tom Henry, an Xcel Energy spokesman, said a car ran into a gas meter but did not know how extensive the leak was.
Nearby apartment buildings were being evacuated and the Regional Transportation District was sending buses for residents.
No further details were available.
