Broncos Marcus Thomas cleared in drug possession charges
Associated Press
Saturday, May 10, 2008
The attorney for Denver Broncos player Marcus Thomas says drug possession charges against the defensive tackle have been dropped.
Attorney Charles Truncale says authorities in Clay County Fla., decided to not file charges against Thomas, who was arrested in March after police said they found cocaine and a handgun in a pickup truck during a traffic stop.
Truncale says Thomas got a ride from friend Bryce Carter after going out drinking near his hometown of Jacksonville. Police arrested both men and Thomas spent a night in jail.
The Broncos later said Carter admitted the cocaine was his.
The Broncos drafted Thomas in 2007.

I think it's time for Thomas to get some new friends. Maybe some that aren't gun-carrying, cocaine-using thugs. It would greatly increase the chances of him having a successful career...and more importantly, a successful life.

boblarryj,
The gun was legal. It was the cocaine that his friend had that was a crime.

I agree with boblarryj, you are what you eat. He needs to find new friends. Why is he hanging out with cocaine users? Negative things happen when you hang out with negative people. Get your priority's straight, Marcus. Don't become another Clarett. Time to make better decisions.

i'm just glad marcus didn't "blow" his chance to be a power-soph this year. i have visions of him back-flipping into the pocket and nailing the landing on philip river's head for a perfect 10 and a spot in the pro-bowl.

I guess Marcus can "chalk this one up" as a valuable life learning experience. :) Chickenman, maybe we should nickname him CTS -Country Tire Swing - he flies through the air and lands on the River.

Pretty weak apology story compared to the ones written directly after he was accused. Why do the writer's add all of their opinions to the story when it's negative, but stick to the facts when it's something positive? Weak!

Suck it haters.
He was the victim of trumped up charges...cocaine residue in someone else's car used as evidence to charge him with possession?
I think some good ol'boys knew who he was and did it to embarrass him....this did happen in Florida after all.

To denveroldtimer: Country Tire Swing? seriously, that is not catchy enough to lift the man above his turbulence...nor is he enough of a ptp'r to take us to the promised land.
He's not self-less.
I'm sick of Shanny taking chances on drug addicts and wife beaters. We used to be a team full of class. Now we're a team full of thugs and drugs.

TheDude, time to relax my friend. Though I won't deny Shanahan has taken some risks in the past, you've clearly missed this past offseason. I know one offseascon won't change a lot of the mistakes of the past but in case you weren't paying attention, we have a new wr/kr in Eddie Royal. He was drafted while borderline (and more explosive) DeSean Jackson was still on the board. Why? Character. Shanahan also brought in two new linebackers this offseason. Many people have never even heard of them, all the while, Lance Briggs sat out there looking for an offer. Why not bring him in? I believe he had just wrapped his lambo around a tree. What's that tell you? To me, it's Shanahan trying to turn around the attitude in the locker room. Want more? Where's Javon Walker? Who replaced him? Small names, BIG character. Let's not forget the type of second have that Thomas had last year. He started coming into his own. I think we can forgive him for being arrested for simply being in someone else's car that had cocaine. After all, he was drunk and could very well have been driving himself around.

it's interesting, dude (excuse me, thedude), that you have so much insider information about exactly whose coke it was or wasn't. my sources (i have people in f.l.a.) track your pink, sore nose right back to that now infamous night in florida. don't be a bad sport over a little spilled blow bro - happens to the best of us. i could hook you up if you're that upset (and not even from a liar, thug, or drug dealer), probably just your local stock broker, lawyer, or bar tender up there in whitey-ville...

Well sure, look at it! Young lineman, I mean, in the parlance of our times, owes money all over town, including to known dealers-- and that's cool, that's cool-- but I'm saying, he needs money, and of course they're gonna say they didn't get it 'cause he wants more, man, he's gotta feed the monkey, I mean-- hasn't that ever occurred to you...?
Sir?

The coke wasn't his. If you're claiming that he admitted it was his, please link to your source. The guy tested clean immediately after being released. Charges dropped.
So, um, non-story?
You would think someone calling themselves "TheDude" would know better, considering his namesake.
