Aurora police officers to participate in convention security

Aurora police officers likely will help Denver in providing security for the Democratic National Convention.
"There is a presumption that we will be going to the DNC and assisting with the security efforts," said Robert Friel, spokesman for Aurora police. "We're still working out the details, which is taking some time."
However, Friel said that the department is making preparations to send its officers to the convention.
Aurora and Denver appear to have ironed out differences on how the officers will be paid and who will provide liability coverage.
"There is a worker's compensation and a liability policy that are acceptable to Aurora," said Aurora city attorney Charlie Richardson.
