Regional scene: Fort Lewis captures RMAC softball crown

The Fort Lewis College softball team won the school's first conference title, beating Adams State 5-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship tournament Sunday afternoon in Golden.
The Skyhawks (28-24-1) earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship tournament regionals next week in San Angelo, Texas.
Fort Lewis junior Cary Moone was named the tournament most valuable player.
WESTERN STATE LEADING Western State's Ablazah Swofford and Chelsea Murray lead the decathlon and heptathlon, respectively, after the first day of the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Gunnison.
MAVERICKS DOMINATE Mesa State had 16 hits in a 15-6 RMAC baseball win against Metro State at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction.
The Mavericks (40-15, 31-9) swept the Roadrunners (38-17, 30-10) 17-12 and 4-1 in a doubleheader Saturday.
* San Diego State's eight-run sixth inning broke open a tight game as the Aztecs (28-21, 14-7) beat Air Force (16-28, 2-15) 14-6 in a Mountain West Conference game at Falcon Field.
* Northern Colorado won its 1,401st game in school history, in a doubleheader split against Texas-Pan American in Greeley.
The Bears (17-31) lost 11-5 in the opener and won 16-6 in seven innings of the nightcap, which was the final regular-season game.
DU LACROSSE TO HIT ROAD No. 19 Denver was selected to the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament and will face No. 7-seeded Maryland at 10 a.m. Saturday in College Park, Md.
SKY SOX SWEPT Memphis used separate seventh-inning rallies to beat Colorado Springs twice in Memphis, Tenn., as the Pacific Coast league Sky Sox (12-17) lost 4-3 and 3-2.
In the scheduled seven-inning game, David Freese's walk-off single to right field scored D'Angelo Jimenez from second base to complete a three-run rally for the Redbirds (14-17).
The Sky Sox witnessed Memphis' first rally during the completion of their suspended game from Friday.
14ERS' WOLF HEADED TO BUCKS According to several published reports, Colorado 14ers coach Joe Wolf will join the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant.
Wolf coached the NBA Development League's 14ers during their first two years, leading them to a 29-21 record in the just-completed season, which ended with a first-round playoff loss.
