The Denver Chess Club is offering new chess sets to our military servicemen and women stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
If you would like to donate a chess set in your name, send a tax-deductible check for $20, made out to "Denver Chess Club," to Rich Monroe, 2680 Big Bear Drive, Sedalia, CO, 80135.
The Rocky Mountain USO has agreed to provide free shipping for the chess sets.
For an additional $5, you can send a special postcard (supplied by the club) with a chess theme along with your personalized message.
The Denver Chess Club holds tournaments throughout the year and rated games regularly on Tuesdays (7-10 p.m.) at the First Avenue Presbyterian Church (First Avenue and Acoma Street).
Monroe can be reached at 303-814-0661 for questions on the chess set donation program or information on the Denver Chess Club.
