Story Tools

According to the National Restaurant Association, women make up less than a quarter of executive chefs and head cooks in the United States, and while that number is slowly increasing, the statistics still tilt toward a testosterone- charged, male-centric kitchen. Work Options for Women, a Denver- based nonprofit that teaches the culinary tools of the trade to impoverished women, is at the forefront of upping the ratio, unleashing talented female chefs into the local restaurant workforce. You can celebrate Denver's top female toques at the upcoming Women Cook! event, a walk- around dinner, graze-a- thon and silent auction that celebrates girl power.
