The man who died Thursday morning after an incident at an oil rig near Platteville has been identified as Christopher Clark, 26, of Platteville.

The incident occurred at about 8 a.m., according to Margie Martinez, spokeswoman for the Weld County Sheriff's Office, at the site of the rig, located about 1.6 miles east of Weld County Road 31 on 28 near Platteville. Clark was taken to North Colorado Medical Center, 1801 16th St. in Greeley, and died at 12:10 p.m. according to Mark Ward, the Weld County Coroner investigating the death. An autopsy will be completed today.

The cause of death is still under investigation, Ward said, but he said Clark injured when he became trapped between a vehicle and a piece of equipment. Ward said Clark apparently received a blunt trauma injury to the chest.
