A suspect has been arrested in a shooting death Sunday night.
Juan Jose Coronado-Avila, 31, was being held without bond at the Denver County Jail Thursday night. He is facing charges of first-degree murder.
On Sunday, Denver police were dispatched to Ninth Avenue and Winona Court on a shooting report. Officers found Jorge Omar Valdez, 29, lying on the ground, with a gunshot wound in the chest.
He was transported to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Coronado-Avila was arrested late Wednesday in the area of 10th Avenue and Havana Street

The 'Codes of Ethics' that apply to the publisher, editor, and reporter demand a complete and balanced article. Otherwise, the media outlet either holds the piece until the data is obtained - or the decision is made NOT to publish the piece. What happened here ?
It is unethical and irresponsible for this piece to be released as is. When the principals in the piece are foreign nationals, and the official arrest report includes sufficient information to report those facts, the progressives at the DRMN are certainly guilty of withholding.
Why behave unethically ? Many laws were broken during and before this incident. It is a felony for an illegal immigrant to have a handgun, it is a felony for that person to evade the mandatory inspection (passport, medical records and condition, and criminal background) entering the USA, and a misdemeanor to enter the USA lacking permission. Why obfuscate here ?
The DRMN is clearly doing their best to avoid damaging their strong advocacy for open-borders. Otherwise, they would report the names of those who illegally employ the two principals, as well as the addresses for the principals. The reporter is also negligent in not contacting DHS-ICE before publishing.
The proper reporting technique includes naming the law-enforcement officers who participated in the investigation, and quotes from the official arrest report. When the arrest report includes information that is important to the citizens of Colorado, such as the nationality of any non-U S-citizen involved, all of the best U S journalism colleges tell their students to report those facts.
The Rocky is negligent here. Dumb-and-dumber. Just in case the DRMN pleads 'insufficient manpower,' they admit their guilt. Likewise, a plea that the law-enforcement Public Relations person failed to share the necessary information. Reporters are investigators, by definition, and do not agree to regurgitate baby cereal.
