21-day sentence for ripping head off duck

Thursday, March 27, 2008

Story Tools

A former Colorado man who ripped the head off a duck in a St. Paul hotel has been sentenced to 21 days in a workhouse and 80 hours of community service.

Scott D. Clark pleaded guilty to felony animal cruelty in January. He apologized in Ramsey County District court Wednesday and said he takes full responsibility for his actions.

Clark was at the Embassy Suites in downtown St. Paul on Sept. 22 when he cornered a duck from the hotel's lobby pool and ripped its head off. Police say he was drunk.

Clark was living in Denver at the time and now lives on a farm in Missouri. He spent four days in jail and lost his job as an auditor with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Sure, a public apology now and then in the privacy of his home................I sure hope the FBI keeps tabs on this guy.

Should make this man do work for the local Duck charity. You know. killing the old birds, as to not slow down everyone else. Swimming lessons for the young ones... stuff like that! Something to further the duck community along!

Or maybe just teach him how to make a wicked foie gras!!!

If he had just beaten his girlfriend instead of killing the duck, he could have avoided a jail sentence and got probation instead . . .

excuse me, avoided a "workhouse" sentence.

A government employee losing their job!? HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED!? Mobilize the democrats! This man was unjustly fired, he "deserves" a job-for-life.

A better punishment would have been to his nutts ripped off with some pliers.

Most people laugh out loud when they read this story. The guy was drunk, give him a break. Over a duck? You're kidding right?

I dunno MrCrush. Drunk or not drunk, I think Clark has to be a bit on the sick puppy side to do that.

And no, I didn't laugh at the story when I read it. This opinion comes from a non-squeamish person that raises their own poultry for meat... and offing a straight run of 50 poults on a hot day in July is no picnic (pardon the pun).

This guy is a sick person to kill a poor duck. This was not a animal who could have gotten away from him.It was tame and raised and loved by humans and knew no fear of people.I own a service dog because I am going deaf.I have to carry mace because some people percieve him as a threat and sometimes scare me with their attitude towards the handicapped.I have had more then one person say that dog better stop looking at me.He watches people so I won't walk into them or get knocked down myself. He is allowed to go with me everywhere that means restaurants and coffee shops too. Many people when I come in say no dogs allowed.I even had one woman call the police on me for just wanting to get him a bottle of water and sitting outside on a patio. The officer asked me to leave and I did. Then I called the regional who met with me and my dog.The woman was called into the office and made to apologize to me for not obeying the a.d.a law.So this is not a isolated incident with people who hate animals. Also had a guy hassle me when in a petstore and he kept bumping me to get at my wallet. He got mad because the dog kept moving between this mugger and me.When we walked to the car he followed us and threatned my dog.If I had not had a can of mace.He would have injured me and my dog.So I feel laws related to people who kill animals need to be tougher.Because no one has the right to kill an animal unless it is raised for the purpose of being eaten. Also my dog is better to me then most people,
