Re the Columbine Documents that are being hidden by the Sheriff and the Killers Families:
It is fascinating to watch. Brian Rohrbough and a few of the families keep fighting in Court to get the hidden files from Columbine released. They are fighting even though their children are dead. They are fighting for your children and other children across the country and across the world. They want the hidden files released to the world for one reason: To try to prevent future school shootings.
The only way that we can stop future killings is to read analyze, study and understand the motivations of killers like Eric and Dylan.
We need to understand that they were not crazy. They killed for a reason, and we need to learn that reason. Those reasons are in the hidden documents.
It should anger you all that the Sheriff of Jefferson County is supporting the Harris and Klebold Families in the suppression of this evidence, and is using your tax money for that perverted purpose.
It should sadden you all that the Klebold and Harris families lack the humanity to try to help in this goal. Their children killed, and they want the reasons kept secret. They can’t even see that releasing the information could stop another school shooting, and might prevent another family from going through the pain of their own current situation.
The worst and most embarrassing point of all is that 11 Attorney Generals from varied States across the country have joined with Mr. Rohrbough and the other families to support the release of the truth.
Eleven other Attorney Generals have now joined the fight, and our Attorney General and our Governor and legislators cower in the darkness and don’t say a word.
Our State is an embarrassment. Our State is hiding the truth, and other politicians and attorneys from around the country have realized that this information is important and will save the lives of innocent children. Doesn’t it break your heart to see the A.G. from Virginia asking for information that could have, might have, prevented the murders at Virginia Tech.
There is simply a greater good here. The embarrassment to the Sheriff and his department will be great. The sadness and pain for the Harris and Klebold family will be immediate. Those facts are a given. But, the truth will save lives.
Shame on Ted Mink. Shame on the Harris and Klebold families. Shame on them for allowing innocent children to die for their own self preservation and self interests.
My thanks to Brian Rohrbough and the other families who are fighting for the release of the truth. They have shown great courage.
Look at this brave man who has nothing to gain but the hope that he can save an innocent life by preventing another tragedy like Columbine. You need to realize that this man is a hero, as are the other families involved in this fight. They deserve your respect and admiration.
They are fighting to save the lives of your innocent children.

Randy Brown has given us an impassioned speech. He states emphatically that "Our State is hiding the truth" and "the truth will save lives" and only by allowing the morbidly curious public to wallow in the pain of others will this truth be revealed. But what if the sealed records he and others so desperately want to see contain no "truth" as he puts it? Where will they go next? How much further will this be dragged out? Randy Brown and Brian Rohrbough want what they want, regardless of the law or court rulings, and it appears that anyone who stands in their way immediately becomes part of the conspiracy against them.

Acemom,
Don't we investigate crimes to find out who did them and why?
Don't we study history in High School and College to learn from the mistakes of our past?
Don't we read about the Holocaust and try to learn from the past?
If you don't want to know the truth, don't read the papers. Don't learn.
Others want to know the truth and want to learn. How does their interest and search for the truth damage you?
Why deny them this knowledge? Why stop Mr. Rorhbough or the other families and the interested parties from all over the country from trying to learn these lessons?
We now know one thing to be a fact: Keeping this information secret is not stopping school shootings. Perhaps understanding the truth about Columbine will.

randybrown, We know the truth. There is nothing more to learn. Please save your conspiracy theories. If there is anything more to learn, then it is a matter for professional psychologists, not you or the general public. It's time to stop dissecting these types of killings under the scrutiny of the public eye. There are too many copy-cat killers waiting for an idea on how to make themselves famous.
We know all the facts and if you haven't figured out why those two individuals committed such an outrageous act by now....you never will.

Should we suppress 9/11 evidence to keep other people from flying planes into "copycat" attacks? Should we suppress JFK evidence to keep other people from trying to kill politicians in "copycat" attacks? What a completely lame and bogus argument. Did the suppression of the "basement tapes" and the depositions of the killers' parents keep Virginia Tech from happening? If they had been released, wouldnt you now be blaming VTech on it? Of course you would. The only purpose that suppressing the remaining evidence has served is to gloss over a badly bungled investigation by Jeffco. Ted Mink isnt worthy to be a dog catcher, much less head of a police department.
"We know the truth, there is nothing more to learn", states one person. First of all, what is this "we" crap? Somebody knows you? Secondly, if you think that you personally know everything there is to know about the case and what caused the two disturbed young men to commit their infamous and heinous act, then you are either hopelessly naive or arrogant or both. Either way, you are wrong, and you dont speak for me, and you dont speak for the families of the dead kids, and you dont speak for people like Randy Brown. Try speaking for yourself and save the "we" for touch football games and political conventions.

If you know the truth, the whole truth, please enlighten the rest of us that don't know the whole truth. Did you sit in on the depositions? What can you teach us ole wise one? And...you don't speak for me either.
It's very sad if you think there is nothing more to learn. As saintsubversive said you are either hopelessly naive or arrogant or both. At best you're incredibly closed minded or do you work for Jeffco.
Randy Brown and saintsubversive speak the truth. Too bad the truth wasn't and isn't spoken in regards to Columbine by those that hold the reports. I just wonder how many lives could have been spared.

After giving Randy Brown's reply 48 hours of consideration, I can only say this:
Mr. Brown, please correct me if I'm wrong, but for some time the police seemed to feel that your son was involved with the Columbine shootings, and despite evidence to the contrary, some police officials might still feel that way. I see your pursuit of the Harris and Kebold families in the same light: unjustified. Unless you have been given illegal access to the closed files and transcripts, then you have no idea what they might, or might not, contain. You may truly believe the files hold clues to prevent other shootings, but I wonder if you want to see the files more to satisfy your own curiosity.
I think it's time for you to admit the killers were, in fact, insane. I say this because sane people don't kill. Whatever "justification" they may have felt, those two boys were totally nuts, and trying to find motivations for crazy behavior is like trying to find UFOs or Santa Claus.
Regardless of what 11 out-of-state Attorneys General may think, our local courts, who have seen the contents of the files you and Mr. Rohrbaugh want to peer through, have ruled the files are private and confidential and thus sealed.
I was going to suggest that as a compromise, the courts might allow a group of professional psychiatrists look at the files to determine if there is actually anything to be gained from them, but I suspect you would not agree to this, and even if it did happen, you would not trust the "outsiders" to render an informed opinion that you were not part of.
When will it end, Mr. Brown?

Actually the AG from Virginia makes Sheriff Mink look like a whistle-blower. The VTech Commission didn't even bother to interview the eyewitnesses to that massacre, relying on the police to tell them what happened. Sad as it may seem, Columbine was a hi-point in the public release of the evidence. Every massacre investigation since then has released less and less 'real' evidence.

Questions are still being asked because it has taken years, multiple FOI requests, countless days in court by families to obtain information that was NOT ordered with held. After the public was told numerous times that was the complete investigation. The families deserved the complete truth from the beginning, not bits and pieces after lawsuits were dismissed by the same judge and a disturbing investigation on missing and shredded documents.
Read the documents, you will have more questions then they are willing to give answers for.
Missing reports from 1st responders,interviews,911 calls, newsfootage, trajectory reports, incomplete ballistics. Even the cafeteria footage was sent to Quantico, the public was only entitled to the "enhanced" version. An officer reported a weapon fired and not turned in, how do they account for shells or casings that dont match Harris, Klebold or the officers who at least accounted for their shots fired ? There is so much more left to be answered but I guess that doesnt matter unless it is your child.
Children fall through the cracks of the system everyday, Councilers, caseworkers, therapists, teachers (that report should be studied also) parents. Everyone can learn what to watch for and possibly how to deal with it BEFORE the Harris and Klebold families become 2 names on a long list of families whose children decide this is the only way they will be heard.
The internet is filled with questions about Columbine because of the way this case was handled before, during and after 4/20.
You cant just have the world watch something so tragic happen, then tell them we know the truth but if you are still around in 20 years and the documents dont end up missing or shredded you just might learn something.
Many thanks to those who are still trying to find answers, it is too important to ignore what has happened, and not learn how to try to stop it.
If there is nothing to hide, who is actually being protected here and why?

djones,
I agree.
The only way to honor the memory of these lost children, that I can see, is to find out the reasons why Columbine happened, and try to prevent it from happening again.
Bullying at the school... Psycho-tropic drugs... Parenting... Societal problems... all are potential and probable causes, and very serious.
"Crazy" is not a cause. "Crazy" is an excuse. "Evil" is an excuse.
Have you ever heard the police state that they caused it by a failed investigation and bad judgment by the District Attorney? NO? Then you do not know the whole truth.
Did you know that the school knew about the pipe bombs, threats and police records of Eric and Dylan? NO? Then you do not know the whole truth.

In further retrospection and thought it has finally occurred to me why you some of you don't want to know the truth. The truth is hard to face.
I suggest you put aside your fear, and face the painful truth.
Children were murdered in our school. We need to know why so that we can stop it from happening again.
If you do not have the courage to face these truths and learn from them, at least stay out of the way so that others can learn.
Thank you.
