Snider leads East to All-Star win

Former University of Denver athlete Geoff Snider registered three goals and three assists to lead the East All-Stars to a 17-16 overtime victory against the West in the National Lacrosse League All-Star Game on Sunday in Edmonton, Alberta.
Colorado Mammoth forward Dan Carey scored three goals and three assists for the West squad.
* Steph Coyne recorded three goals and seven assists to spark the DU women's lacrosse team (4-3) to a 20-14 win against Colgate (2-5) at Peter Barton Stadium.
* Griffin Nevitt recorded two goals as the Air Force men's lacrosse team (1-4) lost 16-4 to sixth-ranked Maryland (5-2) in College Park, Md.
RAGE FALTERS Kai Magnussen's third-period goal lifted the Tulsa Oilers (24-33-4) to a 3-2 win against the Rocky Mountain Rage (35-21-5) at the Broomfield Event Center.
The loss kept the Rage five points behind the first-place Colorado Eagles (37-18-6) in the Central Hockey League Northwest Division.
SPILLANE JUMPS TO TITLE Steamboat Springs resident Johnny Spillane won the U.S. men's ski-jumping title on the 100-meter hill in Park City, Utah.
"I feel like I'm getting back into the groove," Spillane said.
* Steamboat Springs snowboarder Tyler Jewell finished sixth in the World Cup men's parallel giant slalom Saturday at Chiesa in Valmalenco, Italy.
* Denver skier Emiko Torito finished eighth in the World Cup women's moguls event Saturday at Chiesa in Valmalenco, and Winter Park resident Michelle Roark finished ninth.
TORRES RUNS AWAY WITH IT Former University of Colorado athlete Jorge Torres won the U.S. 8-kilometer running title Saturday in New York City, outlasting Andrew Carlson by .07 seconds.
Boulder runner James Carney finished fourth.
LOPEZ ON A ROLL Jessica Lopez won her seventh all-around title this season to lead the 13th-ranked DU gymnastics team to a 196.250-193.275 home win against 17th-ranked Arizona on Saturday.
REGIS WINS SLUGFEST Chris Steinbeck had four hits and four RBI to stoke the Regis University baseball team (12-7, 8-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) to a 19-14 home win against Colorado State-Pueblo (13-11, 5-7). It was the third straight win for the Rangers.
